Description

The main objective of the project is to increase the energy security supply of energy for Breaza City Hall administrative building and to decrease the CO2 emission by using energy produced from geothermal sources. The building of Breaza City Hall building has a number of deficiencies and dysfunctions, which have increased over time. The project proposes to improve the energy efficiency of the City Hall building and increase indoor comfort by installing geothermal pumps and monitoring of the performance obtained.
The technical solution is based on closed circuit heat pumps and energy efficiency measures for the Breaza City Hall administrative building. The heat pumps extract their energy from the ground. The ground temperature is mainly 5-8 Celsius degrees at 2 meters deep and 3 Celsius degrees are absorbed through heat pumps. The ground heat exchanger the project is using is based on the ground panels of 100 W per piece. The efficiency of the ground heat pumps is maintained high by applying high temperature energy from chimney of gas existing boiler recovery to pump’s recovery heat exchanger. In order to properly mix the heat fluxes from heat pumps with the one from existing boilers, the project will use storage capacity of heating agent during the winter.
Key activities of the project include:

  • Designing the geothermal energy system.
  • Project investment.
  • Training for staff.
  • Project management.
  • External consultancy which includes financial audit and the technical aspect.
  • Publicity to ensure the visibility of the project.

Expected outcomes include an estimated annual CO2 emission by 90 tonnes and 683 MWh/year energy produced from geothermal sources.
The project will be implemented in partnership with the Romanian company Water Decor SRL. They will design the technical and engineering documentation for the project, develop the supervisory control and data acquisition system and assist the city hall in managing the project from technical point of view.
