Description

The main objective of the project is to reduce the energy poverty through the electrification of 21 households by using energy produced from photovoltaic panels in Holbav Commune and ensure normal living conditions for a number of 80 people who will benefit from the connection to electrification solutions.

The project proposes the installation of photovoltaic panels to electrify 21 isolated households. In the area of Holbav Commune, the inhabitants face the lack of electrification, registering the lack of refrigerator, but also other elements like TV, lack of internet access and lack of light. The designed photovoltaic system will be off grid, with energy storage in batteries, not connected to the national energy network. The photovoltaic system will be composed of photovoltaic panels, inverter, charger, control module, battery and cable kit. The photovoltaic system will be installed on the roof of the household.

The houses on the hills are spread over an area of 43 kilometers at great distances from each other, which classified the area as one where the electricity network is not economically feasible. By implementing the project, the living conditions of the inhabitants will be improved with an increased attention on health by avoiding the pollution of the environment. Key activities include:

  • Project investment related to the new system.
  • Project management.
  • Publicity to ensure visibility of the project.

Expected outcomes includes 80 persons benefitting from being connecting to electricity solutions, estimated annual CO2 emissions reductions by 7,74 tonnes/year and 35,78 MWh/year energy produced from renewable sources. The number of non-connected households provided with electricity solutions where the power source for the electrification is a renewable energy source (RES) is estimated to be 21 household.

Summary of project results

The main challenge of the project was to reduce the energy poverty through the electrification of 21 households.

Following the implementation of the project, 21 isolated households were electrified in Holbav Commune, Brasov county, by installing photovoltaic panels in order to produce green energy.

The project results are: 21 electrified households, 80 persons are benefitting from being connected to electricity, green energy is produced in total amount of 35,78 MWh/year and estimated annual CO2 emissions reductions are 7,74 tonnes/year.
