Description

The project - "Shaping the future in tourism and food industry" comes in the context in which the qualification of a Steward/Bartender (waiter) seller in economic units, is increasingly demanded by students in the area and highly sought after on the labour market, but for which there are not enough economic agents to ensure the practical training stages, or, they do not pay enough attention to their skills, characterized by the lack of a practical approach.

Objectives:

1. Improving the quality of the educational and the internships at the workplace for tourism and food industry field:

• Teachers’ professional training

• Students’ development of specific skills and communication, for a good socio-professional insertion, by implementing experienced practices on improving practice at work.

• Exchange of good practices at management level

• Internationalization of the institution

2. The practical approach of learning and the correlation of the acquired competences with the requirements of the labour market, respectively of the companies.

The target groups:10th grade students in the field of tourism and food industry, vocational education for 3 years and their VET teachers.

The study visit to Vocational Education and Training (VET) Public Institute of Agrinio, Greece, will be attended by a number of 5 VET teachers, the legal representative of the high school, the English teacher (as a translator), 1 tutor and 1 the legal representativefrom partner company.

The results expected after taking part in the project are the following:  3 LDCs (Local Development Curriculum), in the field of tourism and food industry, 3 practice notebooks, a comparative guide on tuition in the field of tourism and food industry, a project site.

The impact: Increasing the quality of learning in the workplace, Ensuring a better correlation of the theoretical content with the practical part, Improving students'' practical skills, Internationalization of the school.

Summary of project results

The results obtained are the following:
• All 7 teachers participating in the study visit declare that they have improved their skills/competencies as a result of the implementation of the project;
• The 2 representatives of the partner economic agent participating in the study visit declare that they have improved their skills/competencies as a result of the implementation of the project;
• Total number of participants in the study visit: 7;
• 64 (91.43%) of the 70 students studying in VET classes declare that they obtained better learning results during the internships than those obtained before the implementation of the project.
• The project products are the following:
o 3 CDLs for the 9th, 10th and 11th grades for the qualification targeted by the project,
o 3 practice books for the 9th, 10th and 11th grades for the qualification, the waiter qualification,
o 1 manual of good practices-guide for tutors,
o 1 comparative guide of the education systems in Romania and Greece.
o 1 project site.
