Description

The current project aims to promote and encourage the production of animation movies in order for them to reach the public and in order for the creators to be recognized and supported financially. The target group of the project is represented by young animators from Romania, the young audience that shows interest in the movie making industry, the families from remote communities that do not have access to cultural knowledge and also professionals from connected sectors of the cinematographic industry. The direct beneficiaries are educational institutions from Romania (more exactly the art orientated high schools) from the urban and rural areas, the national media, cultural event’s audience, the Romanian film industry, cultural operators, teachers from the rural communities and the Romanian society in general. The general objective: the transition of animation into an artistic movement with educational values and professional potential, sustainable and accessible to the general public, through Romanian-Norwegian cooperation.

Summary of project results

The Animest+ project aimed to address several key challenges within the animation industry, including the need to enhance the visibility of animation as an art form, stimulate domestic animation production, and provide professional development opportunities for Romanian animators. Its initiatives targeted a broad spectrum of beneficiaries, ranging from emerging animators and young audiences to families in underserved areas and professionals from related cultural sectors. By fostering creative growth and expanding access to animation, the project sought to strengthen the industry’s presence both nationally and internationally.

The project expanded access to education and culture for disadvantaged communities, actively contributing to the reduction of social disparities. Through its initiatives, participants developed essential social and creative skills, including teamwork, critical thinking, and artistic expression, fostering both personal and professional growth. By presenting animated works from diverse cultural backgrounds, the project promoted diversity and intercultural understanding, creating a platform for meaningful dialogue. Additionally, it facilitated collaboration between professionals from Romania and Norway, enabling the exchange of experiences and ideas, and strengthening bilateral cultural ties.

The project achieved significant results, benefiting both cultural professionals and the broader public. A total of eight contemporary art activities were supported, fostering creative expression and expanding access to artistic productions. Two innovative approaches to cultural heritage were introduced, enriching audience engagement and offering new ways to experience and interpret cultural narratives.

In terms of professional development, the project enhanced the skills and expertise of 20 cultural professionals, strengthening their capacity to contribute to the sector’s growth. Additionally, 2 new jobs were created, further supporting the sustainability of the creative industries. The project also had a substantial impact on audience engagement, with 19,517 participants taking part in cultural activities, increasing public involvement in and appreciation for contemporary art.

Summary of bilateral results

The bilateral cooperation within the project was characterized by active engagement and continuous exchange between partners. Regular online meetings facilitated effective project planning, progress monitoring, and strategic decision-making, ensuring smooth implementation and alignment with shared objectives. A key contribution of the bilateral partner was its involvement in the selection and procurement of artistic materials, ensuring the highest quality standards for creative outputs.
