Description

Câmpulung doesn’t have the adequate cultural infrastructure needed to serve the needs of the 50.000 people who live in the city and in nearby towns. In the absence of indoor and outdoor cultural spaces, access to culture is restricted, cultural consumption wanes and the artistic community cannot flourish. The current opportunity consists of setting up an outdoor space for local artists to use for exhibitions and artistic manifestations, which would ease the local community’s access to cultural activities and products. Target group direct beneficiaries include: 2180 participants at cultural events, 60 local artists, 30.000 people who need to be better informed about the local art scene, culture and events. The project proposes to diversify the cultural offer in Câmpulung Muscel and to raise access to culture, by creating a space and programme for the local artists and community, through cultural and bilateral cooperation. The benefits of the bilateral partnership consist of know-how transfer and the creation of cultural products with the participation of the local community, having the role of facilitating workshops and art installations on the local art scene in Câmpulung.

Summary of project results

Câmpulung lacks the necessary cultural infrastructure to meet the needs of its 50,000 residents and those from surrounding areas. The absence of dedicated indoor and outdoor cultural spaces limits access to artistic events, reduces cultural participation, and hinders the growth of the local artistic community. To address this gap, the project aimed to establish an outdoor cultural venue where local artists could showcase their work through exhibitions and artistic performances. This initiative sought to enhance cultural accessibility, revitalize artistic engagement, and create new opportunities for the community to participate in and enjoy cultural activities.

The project focused on two main initiatives: a mentorship program and the cultural development of Câmpulung Muscel. A key achievement was the creation of Poiana Culturală Câmpulung Muscel, an outdoor cultural space designed to enhance artistic engagement and celebrate the region’s heritage. Within this space, 64 cultural events were organized, providing a platform for local artists and cultural practitioners to showcase their work while fostering community participation.

A total of 2,582 people participated in 64 cultural events held in the newly established open space in Câmpulung Muscel, creating opportunities for cultural engagement and strengthening community ties. These events featured the involvement of 60 local artists, providing them with a platform to showcase their work and connect with new audiences. Additionally, five project employees benefited from a structured mentorship program, receiving a total of 212 hours of guidance and training to enhance their skills and expertise.

Summary of bilateral results

The bilateral partnership played a key role in enriching the project’s cultural exchange by organizing two events dedicated to Norwegian culture. These events introduced the local community to Norway’s artistic and cultural heritage, fostering greater intercultural dialogue and understanding.
