Description

Contemporary art is a rising field. The Florescu-Fernandez & Friends Association, together with the Norwegian partner, Eikeset med 4 Strenger, aims to promote contemporary art, international cultural cooperation and knowledge transfer through the production of artistic events for ethnic communities and of people with disabilities, as well as the general public. Many people with disabilities and people belonging to different ethnicities are excluded from social / cultural life due to discriminatory attitudes. The project responds to the need for initiatives that give the possibility of participation of people in these categories to cultural life by organizing activities for them: 1 painting exhibition and 3 educational concerts. The project aims to achieve the following specific objectives: OS1. Increasing public participation in contemporary art events with 4000 spectators by organizing during the 12 months 14 performances of the show RoWay - NorMania in Romania and Norway. OS2. Sustainable and innovative growth of the level of understanding of contemporary art and intercultural dialogue through educational programs for 230 students and youth. Supporting 5 educational concerts and 3 podcasts with Norwegian stories over a period of 8 months. OS3. Development of cultural entrepreneurship through the transfer of knowledge and expertise between organizations in RO and NO through job-shadowing activities and non-formal training for 6 professionals over a period of 11 months. The proposed partnership will strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of contemporary art between Romania and Norway by facilitating the exchange of experience.

Summary of project results

The project, led by the Florescu-Fernandez & Friends Association in collaboration with the Norwegian partner Eikeset med 4 Strenger, sought to address the lack of inclusion of people with disabilities and individuals from ethnic communities in social and cultural life. These groups often face exclusion due to discriminatory attitudes. The project aimed to promote contemporary art, foster international cultural cooperation, and facilitate knowledge transfer by creating artistic events that engaged these marginalized groups, as well as the general public. To address this need, the project organized inclusive activities such as painting exhibitions, educational concerts, and contemporary art initiatives, providing opportunities for participation in cultural life.

The project involved the composition and artistic production of a series of concerts, followed by music tours in both Romania and Norway, each consisting of six performances. It also included workshop and job shadowing activities, providing on-the-job training for six professional staff members. In addition, the project organized educational concerts, a painting exhibition, and podcasts featuring stories for children, supporting a total of 12 contemporary art activities. To further extend its reach, the concerts were also digitized, enhancing accessibility and promoting cultural engagement across a wider audience.

The project benefited members of ethnic groups, people with disabilities, local communities where the activities took place, and NGOs. Its outcomes included engaging over 1,000 people in cultural activities and creating more than two new jobs, fostering inclusion and cultural participation across diverse groups.

Summary of bilateral results

The bilateral cooperation within the RoWay-NorMania project has generated contemporary art activities: 2 contemporary compositions created by the Romanian composer Mihnea Brumariu and the Norwegian composer Stig Nordhagen, works presented to the general public, 2 tours of the RoWay - NorMania performance in 12 locations (6 in Romania and 6 in Norway).
