Description

The project has been developed from the need to diversify the cultural offer in Mangalia, to promote local artists and to increase cultural consumption among local communities and tourists. We have identified the opportunity to develop the Callatis Cultural Garden - a space made available to the community. The problems identified are the lack of venues for local artists, a limited offer of cultural activities, a lack of community space for cultural actions and, overall, limited support for the artistic community in Mangalia. In order to meet these problems, we will arrange the Callatis museum garden in a space of artistic exhibitions, cultural events and free time for the community and locals. During the project we will have 6 exhibitions, 12 creative workshops and 6 cultural events in the garden. Furthemore, the project partner from Norway will hold an art workshop in Mangalia, make the first exhibition of the cultural garden and create an artistic garden installation. All these support the local community, offering the opportunity to increase the visibility of local artists and the development of the public, but also to increase the cultural consumption among the population by diversifying the offer and ensuring a larger number of cultural events.

Summary of project results

The Callatis Cultural Garden was set up and made available to the community for cultural events. An artistic program was developed, which attracted over 2500 persons. The project contributed to the development of the public and the diversification of the local cultural offer through 17 artistic/creative workshops for young people and children and contemporary art activities: 8 visual art exhibitions, an ethnographic exhibition of folk costumes, 9 musical cultural events and/or film screenings and the opening of the art installation made under the coordination of the Norwegian partner. Three professionals from the project team benefited from a professional training program and 4.17 new jobs were created.

Summary of bilateral results

The collaboration with the Norwegian partner Lise Wulff consisted in development of an innovative approach. An ecological message was sent through a workshop in which the participants created „woven stones”, later used in an artistic installation located in the Callatis Cultural Garden.
