Description

Romania showed incredible solidarity by welcoming the refugees from Ukraine with open arms. However, concerning Roma, they have had discriminatory treatment, both from the authorities and from the NGOs. Our organization, together with Roma Just, carried out a study that shows how the Roma refugees are treated: separated in transit and residence centers, different and discriminatory treatment offered, they are told that they are not refugees, so they have no rights, etc. In this context is necessary a "focusing" approach to create an environment in which Roma refugees are treated equally, without discrimination. In this sense, in this project
we propose to work with the representatives of the responsible institutions but also with the NGOs that offer services in order to increase access to the services offered by the available legislation without any discrimination as it is the case in this moment. Within the project, O Del Amenca will bring as added value, its proven experience in legal aid projects and its programs with the vulnerable population, while Roma Just brings
experience in monitoring, documenting, and litigating cases of discrimination.
