Description

Many disadvantaged children are facing poor living conditions, high unemployment rates amongst parents, belonging to families with low income, having only one parent, or facing diverse disabilities, raised by grandparents or they are being raised by the social protection system. Romania ranks second in the EU on the risk of poverty and social exclusion, more than a third of Romanians are in this situation, according to the latest Eurostat 2019. The complexity of vulnerability at an early age has a major impact on the evolution of the educational, occupational and living standards of all children. For this reason, through the current project we want to address the reduction of vulnerability among children by offering a complex program of hippotherapy / therapeutic riding, with proven benefits in terms of emotion, socialization, body posture and improving quality of life. The current project has a duration of 18 months, takes place in Arcus – in rural area and aims to increase the capacity and skills for independent living among 50 vulnerable children and young people, aged 3-18, of which 34 have diverse disabilities and all are facing educational problems, are at the risk of marginalization and coming from poor backgrounds, single-parent families or without parents. During the project the role of the civil society will be achieved amongst the general community, employees and decision makers coming from the county’s governmental and non-governmental sector, who work in the field of social inclusion. A full riding infrastructure will be created, by arranging a riding track, outdoor sanitary facilities for people with disabilities and necessary equipment for riding will be provided for organizing the hippotherapy programs. The project will develop an efficient management procedure and improve the educational skills in hippotherapy for 2 people in the association''s team.
