Nautical Leaders 4,0 aims to increase the relationship between the Sines Nautical Station entities at the management and leadership level, training top leaders and senior technicians through bootcamps, coaching sessions, online training in new technologies, thematic training sessions with experts in the field of management and leadership. It is aimed at port companies with businesses within the scope of blue growth and its main objective is the competitiveness of the blue economy through job training for the development of business and management skills, preparing companies in the Nautical Community for sustainable growth. With the implementation of this training plan, it is intended to train 5 companies (1 large company and 4 SMEs), with the participation of 28 professionals in training and reach the target of 90% participation of employees of companies that declared better capabilities / skills in your professional field. The Sines Nautical Station is made of a network of quality nautical tourist offer, organized from the integrated valorization of the nautical resources present in the territory. It includes the offer of accommodation, restaurants, nautical activities and other activities and services relevant to attracting tourists and other users, adding value and creating diversified and integrated experiences. The Nautical Station is thus an interaction platform with the aim of promoting cooperation in a given Territory between municipalities, nautical service companies and tourist companies, between the public and private sectors. This project aims to increase the relationship between the various players in the nautical community in the region, boosting competitiveness, collaboration and innovation in the Alentejo Coast.
Summary of project results
The project was initiated to address the need for enhanced management and leadership skills in the companies located at nautical stations and to foster the empowerment of their stakeholders through training in new technologies and innovative practices.
The project implemented several activities such as intensive two-day bootcamps, led by trainers, focusing on leadership strategies, effective communication, and crisis management. These bootcamps provided participants with a space for reflection, personal development, and improvement of management skills. It also provided specific training translated into a set of software tools on the Moodle e-learning platform, covering topics like collaborative platforms, artificial intelligence, and data management tools. This training was complemented with question-and-answer sessions and recordings that participants could access later. Experts from various areas of the port sector and business management fostered the “Business and Management Skills” conference cycle, providing opportunities for networking and knowledge sharing among participants. The goal was to increased the competitiveness of its end beneficiaries of port companies but also contributed significantly to the sustainable professional development of the sector employees. The project’s expected long-term impact includes the continued application of the skills acquired and the innovative practices trained, leading to ongoing possible improvements in the sector’s operations and efficiency.
To ensure the effectiveness of the project and alignment with the established objectives, a system of evaluation and monitoring was implemented. This system included participant feedback, performance indicator tracking, and report writing on project progress, challenges faced, and successes achieved. In the long term, the project has increased knowledge among the employees of port companies, but also significantly contributed to the development of new and sustainable practices for the sector. The project was successfully completed, meeting all its objectives and established goals. The project''s target audience was the followed, Sines Nautical Community, Sines Nautical Station, Team Managers (Directors and Managers), Senior Technicians and Port and logistics entrepreneurs.
