Description

The Kolor-Druk printing house sees its potential for further development in the area of food and cosmetics packaging. The phenomenon of counterfeiting consumer and industrial products having grown to an unprecedented scale, causes more customers to expect proper protection of products (packaging) against copying. Our project consists in the implementation of an innovative technology of multi-cluster rasterisation with spectral measurement. That innovation makes it possible to secure and verify the authenticity of prints on the basis of the production number, which can be used to identify the production plant, print batch, etc. It will also improve print quality in terms of reproduction of details combined with a reduction of undesirable visibility of the raster structure.

The project covers the purchase of rights to the use of the multi-cluster rasterisation technology, and of an offset printing machine with a varnishing system, a spectrophotometer and photovoltaic panels to power the new technological line. The new technology will bring about significant environmental benefits at our facility: ink savings of up to 40% (approximately 233 kg per year), as well as higher efficiency of the printing process which will become less dependent on the quality of the surface material, mainly paper. As a result of the project implementation, CO2 emissions will be reduced by 69.06 tons per year. The estimated annual volume of non-produced paper waste will amount to 10.1 tons.

Summary of project results

The project was intended to help the company achieve greater profitability and acquire new customers through an expanded offer of new, competitive and high-quality products - new packaging . It was also intended to help develop the company by implementing new technology and the production line and expanding the machinery, and to contribute to an increase in employment in the company, improved care for the natural environment by reducing pollutant emissions, limiting waste and more effective material management.

The project contributed to increasing the company''s competitiveness. The company introduced new high-quality packaging to the market. Through clearer prints and better quality of detail reproduction, they are adapted to all people, including those with disabilities. Due to the company''s development by searching for new solutions and buying of the production line, the project contributed to maintaining cooperation with existing customers and establishing new cooperation. We also managed to reduce CO2 emissions and use materials needed for production more effectively.

The implementation of a process with lower energy and material consumption and the use of energy from renewable sources influenced the cost effectiveness of production innovative packaging, production of more ecological packaging (less use of paint/chemical substances, cardboard/waste paper, energy, etc.) - and, as a result, translated into protection environment.

The main result of the project is to increase the company''s competitiveness and introduce new packaging into its product range that meets customer expectations (better highlighting the product on the store shelf - exceptionally accurate reproduction of even the smallest reproduced elements content, high quality reproducing details, increasing the illusion of reality of the content packaging, distinguishing the product on the store shelf among others competitive products, emphasizing the individuality of the product).

This was achieved by implementing the production line, purchasing a new offset printing machine with a varnishing system, modern multicast screening technology with spectral measurement and a spectrophotometer. There was an increase in the effectiveness of quality control, a reduction in the consumption of inks used for printing and a reduction in the waste generated.

Optimization of the production - allows  to achieve a competitive advantage - much higher quality of packaging - improvement in the quality of detail reproduction combined with limiting unwanted visibility raster structure.

The company has become more attractive both for customers and employees, but also for the local business space. Thanks to photovoltaic panels, the project also results in a reduction in the consumption of electricity used to operate machines and devices. The beneficiary of the project is primarily the company, but also its direct recipients - the company''s clients and employees employed in the plant.
