Description

The project is intended to develop and implement into Seismotion activity an innovative line for the production of flat steel strips with an adhesive layer for offset rubbers. The strips in our offer have a finishing and stabilizing function for offset rubbers used as a print medium by printing houses for their own production purposes (e.g. for the production of advertising materials). The innovation will essentially revolve around a unique method of attaching strips to offset rubbers, which will eliminate the need to use other auxiliary fastening materials, in particular environmentally harmful glues. The new strip can be installed over a considerably shorter time, as the production process will no longer require time-consuming glue preparation, heating and application.

That change in production technology will limit the volume of post-production waste by ca. 30%, reduce the energy consumption in production by 60% due to the shortened rubbing process, and help eliminate the consumption of harmful adhesives by 100%.

The project will contribute to the consolidation of cooperation between Seismotion and Norwegian contractors, as the strips will meet the high expectations of the Norwegian market.

Summary of project results

The development of the SEISMOTION Zofia Rosińska company, increasing its competitiveness through the development and implementation of a new product into its business, based on environmentally friendly technologies was the goal of the project. The primary objective was to develop the concept of a new generation of flat steel slats with an adhesive layer for offset rubbers, which will completely eliminate in the production process of toxic fixing substances and will significantly contribute to shortening the process of covering offset rubbers used in printing houses. Thanks to the implementation of the project, IT solutions have been implemented in the company to enable rational management of materials and control of post-production waste.  In addition, the project has contributed to lowering the rate of unemployed people in the region, raising the (already high) competence of employees in all links of the value chain (design, prototyping, promotion and sales, logistics, quality control), diversifying the assortment, thus increasing the range of potential customers in foreign markets and the volume of sales.

Thanks to the implementation of the project, a new innovative line of steel flat slats with adhesive layer for offset rubber was developed and implemented into SEISMOTION Zofia Rosińska''s own business. Planned consulting services consisting of a feasibility study, concept development, basic and detailed design development, product prototyping, prototype testing, and strategies for the implementation of the new line of slats in selected target markets were carried out. A state-of-the-art milling and veneering machine and a dedicated production management system were purchased. Thanks to the changes made to the production process, SEISMOTION offers a new slat line that is free of toxic and harmful substances, making it 100% recyclable.

Other results:

- Increased jobs at the company;

- intellectual property rights protection has been applied for;

- the annual volume of waste from the company''s production and operations has been reduced.

The implementation of the project contributed to the growth of SEISMOTION''s knowledge, skills and competence not only in the creation of innovative products, but above all in the maintenance and development of business in a very niche printing market using rational management of materials. Thanks to the implementation of the project, the company was able to diversify its production, thereby increasing the range of potential customers in foreign markets and the volume of sales. The company''s product base was supplemented, thus creating a full range of assortments. This will increase the company''s total sales.

The current machinery stock was equipped with a new generation of equipment - a milling machine, thanks to which it is possible to effectively plan production taking into account the rational use of machine load. As a result of the project, a new line of slats was introduced, which is free of toxic and harmful substances, so it will be 100% recyclable.

A dedicated material management system was also implemented, which will contribute to rational monitoring of post-production waste, among other things. The introduced system will enable the company to transform itself into a manufacturing company operating in the spirit of corporate social responsibility (CSR).
