Description

LED lighting fixtures use up to 60% less energy compared to fluorescent lamps and up to 90% less energy as compared to traditional incandescent lamps. Their useful life is 4-7 times longer than that of traditional light sources, which proportionally reduces waste. Under the project, LEDBERG which manufactures LED lighting fixtures based on its own technical solutions will create a lighting fixture called LED QUANTUM. The new product with a power of approx. 150 W, a luminous flux of 20,000-23,000 lm and a protection level of at least IP 65 will be suitable for use in large industrial facilities, such as halls and high-bay warehouses or logistics centres, operating 24/7. QUANTUM LED lighting fixtures will replace traditional 400 W halogen lighting fixtures, so the annual electricity savings will be 0.65 GWh (60% compared to halogen fixtures), translating into a 500-tons reduction in CO2 emissions. The new lighting fixtures will guarantee five times longer useful life of 100,000 hours and low operating failure rate.

LEDBERG will also purchase a machining facility for profiles/lighting fixture bodies. As a result, all the activities related to the machining of profiles (so far subcontracted) will be carried out on-site. This will reduce material damage and help achieve high precision machining. Thanks to the repeatability and precision of the body machining, it will be possible to achieve a high IP rating for the new lighting fixture. The new process will also result in a reduction in the volume of waste by 37.5 kg per year (waste will be virtually eliminated) and more efficient material management.

Cooperation with the Norwegian partner, Perfect Connection ANS, will include mentoring and business advice. Each project phase will be consulted with the mentor to ensure smooth project management.

Summary of project results

Before implementing the project, LEDBERG produced LED lighting fixtures with maximum power 100 W. These types of lighting fixtures were not able to provide appropriate lighting level in large facilities industrial as well as in halls and high-bay warehouses. In addition, lighting fixtures are produced had an IP protection level of maximum IP 54. LEDBERG''s problem was also the lack of devices and machines that would make it possible would be to achieve a high enough precision in machining the housing bodies lighting to increase the protection level to IP 65.

I. Development of the project subject:
1. Purchase of an advisory service related to the development of a new product - QUANTUM LED luminaire for industrial applications. As part of the design of the lighting fixture, the following should be considered:
- developing a LED module design with a power supply system,
- design of the lamp housing with end caps, gaskets, diffuser, fittings,
- adaptation of the lamp housing for use with LED modules of different power,
- selection of other ready components (wires, connectors, grommets, etc.),
- prototype of the developed QUANTUM LED luminaire.
2. Order for testing the parameters and safety of using the QUANTUM LED luminaire.
3. Ordering the development of technical and marketing materials for the QUANTUM LED luminaire (catalog card, user manual, taking product photos, developing product information to be published on the website).
4. Purchase of consultancy services in the form of mentoring.
5. Travel to Norway (Oslo) to meet with a mentor.
II. Implementation of the project subject:
1. Purchase of a profile processing center that will be used for the production of LED QUANTUM lighting fittings.

As a result of the project, the company''s competitiveness increased through development of an innovative energy-saving QUANTUM LED lighting fixture for industrial applications and its implementation into production;
An additional effect of the project is the increase in the knowledge and competences of the company owner thanks to the support of the mentor.

Summary of bilateral results

The partner provided mentoring services that contributed to achieving the following goals:- efficient project management;- increasing the competitiveness of LEDBERG by creating a business and communication strategy;- increasing the knowledge of the owner of the LEDBERG company in the implementation of the LED QUANTUM product to the company''s offer;- creating a promotion strategy for the new LED QUANTUM product;- increasing the knowledge of the owner of LEDBERG in the field of acquiring large business clients (potential recipients of the QUANTUM LED luminaire). The cooperation is assessed positively by both parties.
