Description
In a wood processing plant, the manipulation of round wood is performed in order to obtain raw material of appropriate lengths, eliminate excessive curvature and remove defects blocking further processing. The process currently used at our plant is not very efficient in terms of quality and energy. Therefore, the aim of the project is to introduce a special line for quality manipulation of wood, which will result in better quality of raw material sold to sawmills, furniture factories and pulp and paper plants. Also, we will offer two new products made of processed waste from the wood segregation process. Wood with defects will be processed efficiently: pieces with defects will be cut out and turned into fireplace wood, and the waste of the debarking process, i.e. the removal of the top protective layer of wood, will be made into garden bark.
The project consists in the purchase of a complex line for quality wood manipulation and a loader for loading sorted wood and firewood for transport. We will also purchase 50 kW photovoltaic panels which will reduce energy consumption by 0.03 GWh and CO2 emissions by 26.92 tons per year. Combining the new line with renewable energy will represent our strong environmental awareness - the need for network electricity will be reduced, and at the same time the production of biofuel will be launched, i.e. firewood created as waste from the wood manipulation process.
