More information
Description
The aim of the project is to prepare a set of training materials to support counselling and vocational orientation for primary school pupils. The classes will be performed at the school and at the modern sports stadium of Cracovia Krakow. The results achieved, in the form of a teaching materials set, will use the pupils’ fascination with sport and a modern object, so that students will be happy to take part in the lessons.
Vocational orientation activities carried out at the stadium will consist of meetings with practitioners and presentations of various occupations done by specialists in the stadium. The entire project is intended to help students make deliberate choices about the profile of a secondary school.
Summary of project results
The aim of this project is to prepare an attractive tool for professional advisors, which can be used to provide interesting career guidance and orientation, both at primary school and at the football stadium.
The innovation of the project is the use of the unusual place of sport stadium to teach students. Taking advantage of the magic of this place, linking it to positive emotions will make students happy to use this form of learning. The activities will allow for attractive training sessions and the distribution of content that would appear less attractive at school.
According to our analyses, this is an innovative approach at the national as well as Eastern European level. On the other hand, similar projects are quite common in stadiums in western and northern Europe, including Norway. This is largely due to the organizational culture of sports clubs, which in Poland are only beginning to become involved in the so-called CSR, i.e. Corporate Social Responsibility.
The project partner MKS Cracovia Cracow has a modern football stadium and is interested in launching an educational project for the Cracow society. The Cracovia stadium employs more than 200 people from different branches and occupations, 7 of which were chosen as potentially most attractive for students. Target users of the project are trainers and students in the last grades of primary school. The project activities are limited to the Cracovia stadium and the students of several schools, however the materials prepared will be versatile and usable in each stadium.
. The innovation is the place where the classes are held, i.e. modern sports stadiums.
The created results, in the form of a set of teaching materials, take advantage of the students'' fascination with sports and modern facilities, thanks to which the students willingly participate in the prepared lessons.
The materials are used during the all-day events of the so-called "Professional Day at the Stadium." Students of grades VII and VIII, under the guidance of career counselors and club employees, visit the stadium along the route of 7 professional stations prepared: they meet with specialists of various professions, solve tasks, take part in competitions and rivalries.
The project was carried out in cooperation with the MKS Cracovia club and implemented and disseminated there
The project provided an interesting work tool for school career counselors. A trip to the football stadium combined with the implementation of a career counseling scenario is a pedagogical innovation, very well assessed by cooperating teacher methodological counseling centers. The evaluation also documents the high attractiveness of the project - both for career counselors and students.
Summary of bilateral results
The Norwegian partner supported the project staff in a substantive way by making its experience in using sport as an educational tool available. Above all, the training organised in Oslo was important, but also the two organisational meetings where practical aspects of implementing the results were discussed. The project was also used to develop an idea for a follow-up project, with both partners submitting a joint project on bilateral initiatives between Poland and Norway for intergenerational cooperation - BeFORme - under the Fund for Bilateral Cooperation (FWD) financed by the Norwegian and EEA Funds.
