Description
The main goal of the project is to increase the potential of the staff by participating in a study visit to the University of South-Eastern Norway (USN). The project will allow for the development of cooperation with universities from EEA countries. The acquired competences will allow to increase the professional qualifications of academic teachers, increase the level of education in the field of Computer Science and Biomedical Engineering of the Lublin University of Technology (LUT), as well as expand international experience and strengthen bilateral relations between Poland and Norway in the field of higher education. The study visit will contribute to getting to know teaching centers and to the exchange of experiences between LUT and USN.
The study visit is dedicated to 5 people from PL, 2 women and 3 men who conduct didactic classes in the field of Computer Science or Biomedical Engineering. They have at least a doctoral degree and many years of teaching experience. The selection of people to participate in the visit complies with the principle of equality between women and men and the principle of equal opportunities and non-discrimination.
As part of the project activities, meetings with IT lecturers will be held to familiarize themselves with the study plan and work organization, as well as with modern methods of conducting classes and the technologies used.
The project will be managed using the traditional management method (Traditional Project Management), with the support of remote communication means (Internet, e-mail).
The expected results are: exchange of experiences in the field of preparation of the course and education, increasing the internationalization of LUT, promoting PL abroad and establishing cooperation with specialists from USN. The project will make it possible to establish permanent cooperation and to continue the exchange of employees and students between universities.
Summary of project results
The aim of the project implemented by the Lublin University of Technology was primarily to increase staff capacity through participation in a Study Visit to the University of South-Eastern Norway.
Once the project was launched, a project website was set up. In January 2023, the recruitment for the Study Visit was carried out. It resulted in the selection of 5 people qualified for the Study Visit. On 11 January 2023. An online meeting (kick-off meeting) was held to determine the detailed course of the Visit. The group of PL scientists participating in the Study Visit to the USN was presented. A detailed schedule for the Study Visit was agreed. In 24-27 April 2023. A study visit of research and teaching staff from PL to USN in Kongsberg took place. The schedule and description of the visit can be found at: https://cs.pollub.pl/projects/etmo/study-visit/.
The experience gained will primarily be applied during teaching activities, in which students will be more active in their own work. The experience gained will improve the quality of education in particular during design classes by defining advanced projects, taking into account the latest technologies, including motion acquisition, and by leading design groups according to the skills acquired. The observed cooperation with local industry in Norway will allow for a more active involvement of local companies in the didactic process (e.g. proposing topics for theses or dissertations). Cyclical meetings with local industry will also be organised in order to deepen cooperation with PL and get students more involved. Lublin University of Technology has signed an Erasmus+ agreement with the USN university in Kongsberg. The exchange of students and staff between the participating universities will be increased. There are plans for USN staff to come to PL next academic year. During discussions on the application of 3D motion analysis in education, joint research areas between the two units were also identified. Joint research is planned, which will result in interdisciplinary scientific articles. Cyclical scientific seminars between USN and PL have been planned since early July.
At the Lublin University of Technology, it is also planned to strengthen cooperation with the socio-economic environment and to involve local industry in the education of students by proposing thesis topics and student project themes. Regular meetings with industry representatives are planned at the Lublin University of Technology.
