Description

The project promotes the VET sector by devising and disseminating the educational offer about the technological challenges of Industry 4.0. Implementing new solutions requires upskilling employees qualifications. The devising of an educational offer which corresponds with the requirements of the labor market is a challenge for the institutional partnerships of employers and the education sector. We aim to devise three products: VR technology module of studies, training program Competencies of Industry 4.0 and training game (thinking skills development). The product-oriented approach will guide the experts in devising high-quality outputs. The preparation of each product will be managed by the organization responsible for that task. The products will be included in the organization''s portfolio and available as OER, which will increase the sustainability of the project. Thanks to the study visit in Norway 15 employees of partner institutions will gain knowledge about the Industry 4.0.

Summary of project results

The project responded to the need for the development and promotion of the VET sector by devising the educational offer of the Rzeszów University of Technology and the Jagiellonian University Extension regarding the transformation towards Industry 4.0. The development and dissemination of the market-oriented educational offer of a VET builds the importance of the sector as an indispensable enabler of an innovative economy. The activities carried out in the project emphasized the key role that these institutions play in shaping attitudes among employees by promoting lifelong learning, supporting labor mobility or supplementing their qualifications. The project also enabled the development of knowledge and competences of 12 members of the partner institutions staff in the field of digital technologies, the potential of Polish industry, and Industry 4.0 implementations in Norway. Partners (JUE, RUT, Pratt&Whitney and International Development Norway) have developed a VR Course, Development Program 4.0 and a Plantation simulation game that respond to the competency needs of employees and organizations undergoing transformation towards the industry of the future. The products were implemented for a group of 6 PR students and 8 P&W employees, which made possible to obtain feedback from representatives of target groups. A parallel activity was the dissemination of the project results through, i.e., organization of events such as the conference Human in the Future Organization. Information about the project reached approx. 80 thousand representatives of the target group, of which approx. 450 learned about the project and / or had the opportunity to learn about its results by participating in meet-ups, workshops, debates or conferences. Wide-ranging activities contributed to building awareness of the challenges of technological transformation as well as the opportunities it creates, e.g. in the context of improving working conditions in industry. Thanks to the implementation of the project, RUT and JUE implemented a new educational offer, and 12 members of their staff acquired new knowledge and competences. Participation in the project allowed P&W to co-create an offer of the VET sector tailored to its development needs and its implementation for 8 employees of the management staff. The successful implementation of the project contributed to the creation of the European innovation ecosystem of the VET sector and the strengthening of Polish-Norwegian cooperation.

Summary of bilateral results

The project implementation in partnership with International Development Norway significantly influenced the quality of the developed results and the good atmosphere of cooperation in the team. IDN experts prepared materials presenting European implementations of Industry 4.0, which enriched the products with refelctions regarding a specific business, development or technological problem. Additionally, the visit organized by the IDN was considered by the participants as extremely productive and fruitful. The proposed program (visits to enterprises, a seminar with Norwegian University of Science and Technology, talks with clusters and the social parties of Norwegian industry) was tailored exactly to the development needs of project participants and experts, which directly contributed to the quality of the developed products. One of a key elements was IDN''s involvement in promoting the idea of sustainable development, which is also shared by other partners. Partership with the institution from the Donor States increased the credibility and outreach of the messagereagrding the promotion of the idea of sustainable development. It turned out to be particularly important during the project implementation, e.g. in the context of the Human in the Future Organization conference, devoted to the dissemination of the project results as well as the idea of sustainable development and sustainable organizations. The common working ethic and development paths of IDN and JUE prompted both organizations to submit a project under the 2nd call for the Education Program on quality culture in education. The partners, together with the Polish Chamber of Training Companies, started the implementation of this project on April 1, 2022. Further joint initiatives focused on permanent, inter-institutional cooperation for the development of industry in Central and Eastern Europe are also planned.
