Description

The cooperation between “Harmonies and Noises” Music Foundation and BIT20 Ensemble is based on shared principles which have been present in their activities. Both organisations promote contemporary music creation with actions aimed far beyond insiders and professionals. The target groups of their projects are children and teenagers with no music skills as well as young musicians who or are at the beginning of their professional careers

Summary of project results

_ increasing access to art and culture - through the exchange of experiences and practices aimed at developing the audience.The most important part of the target group are young people from Norway and Poland considered potential by the project partnersparticipants of the contemporary music scene;● cultural exchange and cooperation - each of the project events will be co-created by organizations from Poland and Norway. Inartists, organizers and music students and other young people, both with certain skills, will be involved in the cooperationwith and without musical skills;● expanding knowledge about Jewish cultural heritage - the project includes various musical and educational activitieswith a performance of music by Olga Neuwirth with the film "Die Stadt ohne Juden" ("The City Without Jews"), which shows the beginnings of anti-Semitism andits tragic consequences;● openness to ethnic minorities - this is the purpose of activities prepared as part of the project, showing women''s creativitycoming from the circle of Islamic culture;● each project event combines artistic and educational goals.

 

The artistic and educational project "Around Pierrot" was presented in May 2022 atFestival of Tradition and Musical Avant-Garde "Kody" in Lublin and at the concert on February 17, 2024year in Troldhaugen (Bergen). The performers were musicians of the Polish band Flow Unit poddirected by the Norwegian conductor Halldis Rønning and with the participation of a Norwegian Torah singerAugestad.In 2022, Summer New Music Courses for Performers took place from July 28 to 6August in Bydgoszcz. They were prepared in cooperation with BIT20 Ensemble with the supportAcademy of Music in Bydgoszcz and the Municipal Cultural Center. They took part in the coursesconcerts of lecturers and students. The class program included individual classes andteam. In 2023, courses with a similar program took place in Bydgoszcz from 20 to 29JulyThe Norwegian Ensemble BIT20 performed in September 2022 at the "Warsaw Autumn" festival withmusic by Olga Neuwirth for the film "Die Stadt ohne Juden". This event was the resultcooperation of the Project Leader with partners: Stiftelsen BIT20 from Bergen and the AssociationPolish composers. The BIT20 Ensemble performed again in May with a large lineup2023 at the Kody Festival with songs combining elements of Norwegian tradition and avant-garde.The program presenting the achievements of female composers from Iran was presented three times: in May2023 at the Kody Festival in Lublin organized by the "Rozdroża" Center and inWarsaw at the Asia and Pacific Museum. In November 2023, music by Iranian female composerspresented in Bergen.A joint concert of Polish and Norwegian musicians took place on November 28 in Bergen. Programincluded works by contemporary Polish and Norwegian composers.On January 11 and 12, 2024, the Days were organized in cooperation with Stiftelsen BIT20 EnsembleNew Norwegian Music in the halls of the Academy of Music in Krakow. The program included twoconcerts: one performed by Polish musicians, the other by Norwegian musicians. BeforeDuring concerts, Polish musicians conducted workshops with students of the Academy.

Audience development was one of the most important goals of this project. It was implemented primarilyall through participatory activities undertaken jointly by professional musicians and young people.Participatory projects included cooperation with students of general education and music schools. Suchwas the "Around Pierrot" project, in which young people from general schools in Lublin took part(Kody Festival in 2022) and in Bergen (February 2024) - their participation translated into interest in the concerta wider group of their friends, family and local communities, which has become an effective methodexpanding the audience for events related to new music. They were also participatory in natureproject events in Radom (2022) and Warsaw (October 2022 and 2023) and a concert in March 2024,which took place in the Hall of the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice. As part of the tasksix participatory pieces were commissioned and performed. Enthusiasm of young people participating inThese events confirmed our belief that the participatory form is extremely effectivefor audience development.

Summary of bilateral results

The Norwegian project partner participated in events resulting from cooperation withproject leader and events carried out in the trilateral cooperation of Stiftelsen BIT20Ensemble, the "Harmonie i noises" Foundation and with one of the Polish partners (ZwiazekPolish Composers or the Center for Intercultural Creative Initiatives "Rozdroża").BIT20 Ensemble musicians took part in the Summer New Music Courses in Bydgoszcz inas lecturers and concert performers. Organized by the AssociationPolish Composers festival "Warsaw Autumn" in 2022 Stiftelsen BIT20 preparedconcept of an artistic and educational project built around the film "Die Stadt ohne Juden"("City Without Jews") and presented it at a concert performed by a Norwegian bandmusic for this film. The project partners conducted an extensive information campaignregarding this event. In cooperation with the Music Foundation "Harmonie i noises" andWith the "Rozdroża" center, the Norwegian partner has developed a program for a concert of new Norwegian musicat the "Kody" Festival of Musical Tradition and Avant-Garde in Lublin, organized by the Center"Crossroads"
