Summary of project results

The project’s implementation has allowed to improve  parameters of energy efficiency in the building and has led to CO2 reduction. Thanks to the communication plan and educational activities, local community awareness (such as students and their families, teachers, residents) about energy efficiency has increased. The knowledge acquired by main and indirect recipients, as well as good practices used by them on a daily basis, will leed to real ecological benefits. The behavioral patterns, created during project’s implementation, will be an example for subsequent years of students and young residents of Stargard.

In terms of thermal modernization of Primary School No. 3 with Sports Championship Branches in Stargard, the following works were carried out: improving the heating system, insulating walls and roofs, replacing windows and doors, improving the hot water installation, replacing fluorescent fixtures with LED ones, installing photovoltaics.

As part of activities aimed at increasing public awareness of energy efficiency, the following activities were implemented: competitions (art, multimedia, knowledge tournament) in which children from city kindergartens have taken part, an interest club, a school debate, an educational path introducing renewable energy topic, stationary and as well as away workshops, and meetings with parents.

According to communication plan, there have been implemented activities related to  energy efficiency promotion. Following tools have been used: schools and city’s websites and social media (Facebook), leaflets and brochures, school newspapers, competitions for students, press breakfasts, materials in local media, boards. The implemented activities have been summarized and assessed in the evaluation report which confirmed validity of the project and achievement of assumed goal, i.e. increasing public awareness of energy efficiency.

As a result of the project, measurable benefits are visible in lower energy bills and reduced emissions of harmful dust by the building. At the same time, the implemented activities have contributed to increasing recipients'' knowledge about energy efficiency and ecology. Moreover, residents of Stargard and the region have gained knowledge about the EEA Financial Mechanism and the Norwegian Financial Mechanism.
