Description
The project is an answer to the problem of low energy efficiency of school buildings. The task is dictated by an energy audit, which confirmed that the condition of the building does not correspond to its function. The building generates large energy losses, which contributes to increased greenhouse gas emissions, including CO2. The project meets the need for energy efficiency and production. The implementation of the project is dictated by the local strategy for a low-carbon economy. The project through energy audit improvements in the insulation of external partitions, central heating installations. The implementation of the energy management system will reduce the demand for heat and electricity, which will be expressed by increasing energy efficiency by 84. 6% and reducing CO2 by 80% compared to the current state. The project will allow to achieve the ecological effect: improving the degree of energy efficiency by 84.6%, increasing RES in energy production and adjusting the parameters to a passive standard. The main target group are inhabitants of city, including above all the students and teaching staff of VII HighSchool, who will obtain better thermal conditions and greater comfort necessery for study. Summary of project results
The problems and challenges of the Municipality of Bydgoszcz the project was to address are the low energy efficiency of old school buildings, air pollution, poor technical conditions in which educational activities are organized and the still too low ecological awareness of the residents.
The building of the Secondary School No. 7 in Bydgoszcz has undergone full thermal modernization (including the installation of photovoltaics) and is currently the most energy-efficient school building in the city. A model, innovative energy management system (BMS – Building Management System) has been installed in it. This system will be gradually implemented in other buildings. An information and educational campaign on pro-environmental topics was conducted among the city''s residents, over 90 students of the Secondary School No. 7 took part in workshops on renewable energy sources.
As a result of the project implementation, the planned results were achieved, i.e. a reduction in the school building''s energy demand by 79.9% and a reduction in CO2 emissions by 80%. The share of energy production from renewable sources also increased. The air quality within the school area improved. The learning conditions in the high school with approx. 535 students and 51 employees improved significantly. Nearly 500 residents of Bydgoszcz took part in an educational campaign on environmental protection.
