Description
Why is the project needed? Which situation or problem does the project aim to address? (provide reference to evidence, include reference to the relevant laws or policies, where relevant) (max 500 characters)Identified problems affecting us, direct and indirect project are: • Energy losses due to heat transfer through building partitions, • High costs of heating school buildings, • Unheated classrooms and common areas, • No use of RES, • Low ecological awareness of the commune’s inhabitants. As a result of the project implementation the buildings do fulfill the technical conditions according to the Declaration of the Minister of Investment and Development of April 8, 2019.
Our Project involves deep thermal modernization of building along with the use of RES. Project effects: improvement of thermal insulation of the school building, improvement of atmospheric air quality by limiting pollutant emissions, using RES, improving the living and learning conditions of the commune''s inhabitants, improving the aesthetics of the environment, achieving cost-effectiveness, which will save financial resources, increasing public awareness of energy efficiency.
Project realization leads to a reduction of CO2, reduction of primary energy, increasing use of energy from RES and is increasing public awareness of efficiency energy, while holding cost efficiency.
Who is expected to benefit from this project and how will they benefit? (max 200 characters)Thanks to the broadly understood promotional departments, the target population of the Kozienice District, including school students, principals, school employees
Summary of project results
The primary goal of the project was to improve energy efficiency in the school building by supporting comprehensive investment activities involving deep thermal modernization undertaken to bring the school building to the "passive" or "almost zero emission" energy standard. By using technical and construction solutions, the energy efficiency of the building increased and the quality of work of teachers and students significantly improved. Reducing heat losses in the building, especially in winter, improving thermal insulation and introducing modern technology will reduce heating costs and electricity consumption, which has a beneficial impact on the school budget and the environment.
The main goal of the project was to reduce energy demand and thus reduce operating costs in the largest school in terms of the number of students in the Kozienice commune. Thanks to the thermal modernization, the changes introduced will reduce heat loss to a minimum, and the building itself has become more ecological and has gained an attractive and modern appearance. Additionally, educational and information activities were implemented, which brought a number of benefits. Young people participating in conferences organized together with the Norwegian partner could learn about energy efficiency, learn about the importance of reducing CO2 emissions and related good practices in environmental protection solutions, and hear about the role of public authorities in promoting energy saving projects. energy and projects related to increasing energy efficiency at local and regional levels.
The result of the project is a reduction in the building''s demand for heat and electricity. The term thermal modernization covers many activities that were carried out as part of the project. The effects of individual works produced a rich final effect. As a result, the building will consume less energy and become more ecological. The following works were carried out as part of the project:
1) Modernization of the central heating installation consisting of replacing radiators with equipment and replacing the central heating installation
2) Modernization of the domestic hot water installation. with the necessary equipment and accessories,
3) Installation of mechanical supply and exhaust ventilation with heat recovery
4) Insulation of flat roofs
5) Replacement of external doors.
6) Replacement of windows.
7) Insulation of external walls.
8) Roof insulation.
9) Modernization of lighting to LED using motion sensors
10) Installation of a photovoltaic installation.
11) Installation of an energy management system with software,
12) Painting the building''s facade twice.
The project''s recipients are in particular students and teachers of Public Primary School No. 3 in Kozienice, but also all residents of the Kozienice Commune and visitors. Thanks to the reduced demand for non-renewable fuels used for heating purposes, the air quality has improved, and the use of renewable energy installations allows to reduce the demand for electricity.
Summary of bilateral results
Cooperation with Norwegian Partner Norsk Energi brought benefits to both parties. It enabled the exchange of experiences and knowledge on the innovative climate solutions. In particular, the exchange of expertise between partners, especially regarding advanced practices in environmental protection solutions, in the fieldof energy efficiency, the importance of reducing CO2.The partner provided support in the field of deep thermal modernization by desktop review of the design solutions and applied standards. In addition, good practices used in Norway in the field of low-emission/energy-efficient buildings were presented. The cooperation also strengthened the project''s credibility and external visibility. The partner actively participated in 3 project conferences. Two study visits were held, one in Oslo and one in Kozienice. Study visits tightened the partners'' cooperation and made it possible to see solutions beneficial for the natural environment. The Kozienice commune and Norsk Energi expressed hope for the implementation of joint projects in the future.
