Description

Investment arrears in the scope of thermal modernisation of buildings generate a number of effects which adversely affect the attractiveness of the area and constitute a barrier to the effective use of economic, natural and cultural potential. Technologies used in the past cause insufficient thermal tightness of buildings, the results in large heat losses and high costs associated with exploitation, it is also the cause of unfavorable conditions on the objects and lack of comfort of their use.  A number of investment activities assumed in the project are related to the improvement of energy efficiency and use of renewable energy sources. Thus, the project will contribute, among others, to - reduction of air pollution emissions, - increase energy savings through technology investments and of eco-friendly equipment, - increasing public awareness of energy efficiency. Thermomodernisation will improve the conditions of use, thanks to the application of modern technologies, the project will positively affect the reduction of energy and heating costs.  Project result will have a positive impact to the natural environment, but also beneficial for students and teachers who are direct users of the buildings as well as administration employees.  The added value of the partnership with the Norwegian Research Center AS, will contribute to exchange of knowledge on efficient use of energy and the use of renewable energy sources.

Summary of project results

Thermal modernization of school buildings in the Bochnia commune was a response to several key problems that concerned both the technical condition of the buildings and their impact on the environment and maintenance costs. Below is a list of the most important problems:

- high heating and energy consumption costs,

- low energy efficiency of buildings,

- poor technical condition of infrastructure,

- impact on the environment

- insufficient comfort of learning and working.

As part of the project, thermal modernization activities were carried out in 10 school buildings from the Bochnia commune (insulation of building walls, replacement of window and door joinery, modernization of boiler rooms, installation of photovoltaic installations and heat pumps):

- Primary School Building in Baczków

- Primary School Building in Damienice

- Primary School Building in Dąbrowica

- Municipal School Complex in Łapczyca

- Municipal School Complex in Nieszkowice Małe

- Primary School Building in Pogwizdów

- Henryk Sienkiewicz Municipal School Complex in Bogucice

- Primary School Building named after Jan Kochanowski in Brzeźnica

- Primary School named after Fr. Józef Skwirut in Proszówki

- Primary School Building in Stanisławice.

The necessary technical documentation was prepared, investor supervision over the implementation of construction works was carried out, and information and promotional activities were carried out.

As a result of the project implementation, energy efficiency measures were implemented in 10 school buildings in the Bochnia commune. These measures improved the comfort of learning for children, youth, teachers and other employees using the school buildings covered by the project. We expect that the full heating period will show savings in energy consumption, and consequently a reduction in heating costs. Reducing energy consumption will contribute to reducing the exploitation of natural energy resources, which has a positive impact on the environment.

Information campaigns were carried out to raise public awareness of energy efficiency.

As part of the project, training was conducted for administrators of school buildings covered by the project and other interested parties, thanks to which they gained the necessary knowledge in the field of energy efficiency.

The thermal modernization of schools and the educational campaign made students aware of the importance of taking care of sustainable development.

Information activities were carried out, thanks to which the public was informed about the financial support received from the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area 2014-2021, for the implementation of activities carried out in the project.

Summary of bilateral results

On 29.02.2024, as part of the project entitled "Thermal modernization of school buildings in the Bochnia Commune", a study visit of a representative of a foreign partner from Norway took place. The visit was attended by a representative of the project Partner - Ms. Kirsti Midttømme - Chief Scientist of NORCE Norwegian Research Centre AS. and representatives of the Bochnia Commune. The subject of the meeting was a visit of the representative of the project Partner to selected schools, in which works were carried out to reduce the demand for thermal energy in buildings (including modernization of boiler rooms, modernization of the central heating system, replacement of lighting, insulation of building ceilings, insulation of building walls), and solutions were used to reduce electricity consumption in the form of installation of PV systems. The representative of the project Partner had the opportunity to see the effects of the thermal modernization works carried out and exchange experiences regarding pro-ecological solutions.
