Description

Investment arrears in the scope of thermal modernisation of buildings generate a number of effects which adversely affect the attractiveness of the area and constitute a barrier to the effective use of economic, natural and cultural potential. Technologies used in the past cause insufficient thermal tightness of buildings, the results in large heat losses and high costs associated with exploitation, it is also the cause of unfavorable conditions on the objects and lack of comfort of their use.

A number of investment activities assumed in the project are related to the improvement of energy efficiency and use of renewable energy sources. Thus, the project will contribute, among others, to - reduction of air pollution emissions, - increase energy savings through technology investments and of eco-friendly equipment, - increasing public awareness of energy efficiency.

Thermomodernisation will improve the conditions of use, thanks to the application of modern technologies, the project will positively affect the reduction of energy and heating costs.

The project result will have a positive impact on the natural environment, but also be beneficial for students and teachers who are direct users of the buildings as well as administration employees.

Summary of project results

Technologies used in buildings in the past resulted in insufficient tightness of buildings, which resulted in high heat losses and resulted in high costs related to the operation and maintenance of buildings. Additionally, energy production based on fossil fuels caused significant air pollution through excessive emissions of greenhouse gases. The project "Thermal modernization of school buildings in the Koszyce commune" assumed the thermal modernization of two school buildings: the Primary School in Koszyce and the Primary School in Książnice Wielkie. The scope of necessary construction works to increase energy efficiency and energy saving resulted from the energy audit of buildings.

At the school in Książnice Wielkie, the tasks included: thermal insulation of external walls, boiler rooms above and below the ground, plinth walls and unheated basements, internal walls bordering the attic, ceiling under the attic, replacement of windows and doors, modernization of the central heating installation. (pellet stove), replacement of lighting with energy-saving ones, installation of a photovoltaic installation.

The planned works at the Educational Center in Koszyce include thermal insulation of the roof, replacement of doors, construction of a mechanical ventilation system, photovoltaic installation, replacement of lighting with energy-saving ones, and modernization of the central heating installation. by using a ground heat pump.

Increasing public awareness of energy efficiency is extremely important to be able to effectively implement activities in this area, which is why the project also planned promotional and educational activities to increase awareness of energy efficiency. The topic of energy efficiency is important. In addition to the development of new energy sources and the implementation of new technologies, energy saving remains extremely important. The direct and primary benefit of improving energy efficiency is reducing energy consumption. The role of local governments is also important in the area of increasing energy efficiency. This includes promoting specific behaviors and actions on the part of energy consumers.

The project titled "Thermal modernization of school buildings in the Koszyce commune" was comprehensive. It envisaged the implementation of works aimed at reducing the demand for thermal energy in buildings, as well as the use of solutions reducing electricity consumption in the form of installation of PV installations. The project covered public utility facilities:

1. Building of the Primary School named after Piotr Barylak in Książnice Wielkie;

2. Building of the Educational Center  Stanisław Wyspiański in Koszyce.

At the Primary School in Książnice Wielkie, the following construction works were carried out as part of the project:

-thermal insulation of external walls, boiler rooms above and below the ground, plinth walls and unheated basements, internal walls bordering the attic, ceiling under the attic,

- window joinery was replaced, external doors were replaced

- the central heating installation was modernized and the old eco-pea coal stove was replaced with a wood chip/pellet stove

- the lighting was replaced with energy-saving ones

- a photovoltaic installation with a capacity of 8.10 kWp was constructed

The scope of work performed at the school in Koszyce includes:

- roof thermal insulation

- replacement of external door joinery

- construction of a mechanical ventilation system

- construction of a photovoltaic installation with a capacity of 112 kWp

- replacement of lighting with energy-saving ones

- the central heating installation was modernized and a thorough heat pump was installed

Also as part of the implementation of the project "Thermal modernization of school buildings in the Koszyce commune", a study visit of the Norwegian partner - Norce Norwegian Research Center AS - took place. The visit was an opportunity to meet the partner with representatives of the Koszyce commune and the management of schools participating in the project. A seminar on energy efficiency was held in Poland and in the Koszyce Commune through thermal modernization of the primary school building in Książnice Wielkie and Koszyce. A representative of Norce Norwegian Research Center A provided information on how to obtain renewable energy in Norway and achieve energy efficiency. After the meeting, there was a visit to the facilities undergoing thermal modernization. The meeting was a source of valuable information for both parties, exchange of experiences and awareness of the importance of environmental safety through improving energy efficiency.

As part of a promotion:

- a seminar on energy efficiency was carried out in Poland and in the Koszyce Commune through thermal modernization of the primary school building in Książnice Wielkie and Koszyce

 - training was carried out on improving energy efficiency in public and single-family buildings

- training was provided for administrators and employees of public buildings in the field of energy efficiency

 - workshops on energy efficiency and RES were held for school students

 - an outdoor event called "Energy Efficiency Day" was organized

 - a conference was organized to start and close the project

 - games and puzzles were purchased for schools

- videos were made illustrating the actual scope of the project

 - a radio spot regarding the implementation of the project was broadcast

Thanks to the implementation of the task "Thermal modernization of school buildings in the commune", two school buildings were thermally modernized and their energy efficiency improved, resulting in energy savings.

Thermal modernization of school buildings resulted in improved conditions of use, thanks to the use of modern technologies, the project resulted in a reduction in energy demand and a significant reduction in heat losses, which will allow for lower heating costs and a significant reduction in air pollution.

The main goal of the project was to improve the energy efficiency of buildings, which will result in a reduction in energy consumption and, consequently, a reduction in CO2 emissions.

Technologies used in the past resulted in insufficient tightness of buildings, which resulted in high heat losses and high operating costs. Additionally, energy production based on fossil fuels caused significant air pollution through excessive emissions of greenhouse gases.  Thermal modernization of school buildings resulted in improved conditions of use, thanks to the use of modern technologies, the project resulted in a reduction in energy demand and a significant reduction in heat losses, which will allow for lower heating costs and a significant reduction in air pollution.
