Description
The need to implement the project results from the necessary adaptation of the space of G.Mazowiecki to the ongoing climate changes. The area of the city is currently experiencing problems related to,among others, air quality and warming, low level of rainwater retention and lack of biodiversity of plants resistant to the changing climate. The above problems and the need to eliminate them are corroborated by the provisions of the commune''s strategic documents, including the Low-Emission Economy Plan
The project will address the above problems through the implementation of adaptation and mitigation measures, e.g. installation of lighting in the use of RES, creation of retention tanks and plant irrigation systems, planting, application of permeable surfaces draining rainwater into the ground. These actions will involve raising awareness of the society. The result will be the development of infrastructure and the increase in the residents'' ability to adapt to climate change.
The project will increase G. Mazowiecki resilience to climate change, including its green areas and water management process, reduce emission, and raise public awareness of environmental issues.
The project will be addressed to a diverse group of G. Mazowiecki residents who will become more aware and educated in the field of environmental protection and will gain a better environment for living.
Summary of project results
In the case of Plac Wolności, the works required cooperation with a Conservator of Polish Historical Properties.
- During the construction works workers found a - a fragment of the monument commemorating the liberation of the homeland in 1918. The monument was destroyed in 1934 by a German bomb. A replica of the monument was erected in 1984 in a different place - it still stands today. The monument was placed on the original site of the monument commemorating the liberation of the homeland.
- The exposed pavement was used to create a pedestal for the "Freedom" monument.
- In the field, the former EKD tracks were highlighted by drawing a stone surface, and an educational path was also created
