Description

Our beneficiaries are healthy siblings of sick children. They are often overlooked and left unattended by parents who are busy caring for their sick child. Doctors are not interested in them because they are healthy, and their peers who know their family situation do not know how to behave towards them. This is why we support such persons and at the same time make the public aware of their problems. The grant will help us to expand our offer to our beneficiaries by, among other things, purchasing materials needed to run workshops. We will provide training for volunteers and create professional marketing campaigns. These campaigns, as well as the publications and advertising materials, will help to raise public awareness of the problems faced by healthy siblings growing up in the shadow of a chronically ill child. We will also show how important it is to help such children and how their exclusion from social and family life can be counteracted. The funds received through the grant will allow us to develop our activities in the new city, as well as to build a stable position in the local environment. This will enable us to reach more children, whom we will help in the years to come.

Summary of project results

Healthy siblings of sick children, often overlooked, left to their own devices by their parents, busy taking care of the sick child, by doctors, because after all, the child is healthy and by their peers who do not know how to behave, knowing the situation at their friend''s home. The Equally Important Foundation helps them, at the same time making society aware that their problems and lives are equally important, and building self-esteem requires support. The project implemented as part of the grant was to help us support the beneficiaries in both a direct and indirect way. Directly by financing activities for the beneficiaries, and indirectly by helping to develop the organization. The purchase of work tools or the trainings conducted allow us to offer more comprehensive assistance and use the organization''s resources more effectively.

As part of the project, we managed to provide the foundation with items that make everyday work easier, such as printers, a projector, and materials to be used during future workshops organized by us.

Additionally, we have prepared a publication aimed at families struggling with a child''s illness, which briefly and accessibly discusses the problems of interpersonal relationships occurring in families affected by the illness and ways to deal with these problems.

By purchasing the positioning service for the foundation''s website, we obtained a Google grant that we can use to create marketing campaigns, and we also received access to teaching materials on how to conduct these campaigns.
As part of the project, we also conducted 2 training courses for volunteers, two volunteers gained new qualifications in the field of conducting biofeedback tests, and two more gained qualifications to be a guardian of children''s and youth recreation.

As part of the project, we managed to support over 30 beneficiaries, including through participation in individual and group workshops that developed their interests and allowed them to spend time with their loved ones (parents), thus building their self-esteem and position in the family hierarchy. Additionally, for the first time we organized workshops for children in Bydgoszcz, thus expanding our activities to the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. The publication we prepared helps improve interpersonal relations in the family (therapeutic action), and also helps counteract social exclusion through activities that raise awareness of the difficulties our beneficiaries face. Distributing the publication in hospitals and centers cooperating with us allowed us to reach many new families and introduce valuable content into their everyday lives. The Google grant obtained for marketing activities allows us to reach new recipients, and the skills acquired by volunteers during training allow us to professionalize our activities.
