Description
The aim of the project is the professional activation of 20 refugees who came to Poland from Ukraine after 24 February 2022. We provide them with support from a vocational counsellor, an employment intermediary and an integration specialist. We aim to counteract discrimination and professional exclusion of refugees on the Polish labour market by working with 10 employers and support the integration of 12 Ukrainian children. Our activities respond to the current crisis situation and the needs of refugees residing in Poland.
All persons targeted by the project are unemployed. Most of them have more than one child, have little knowledge of the Polish language and communicate mainly in Ukrainian or Russian due to limited contacts outside their own community. Many of these people have therefore already benefited from the support offered by the Kolping Support Centre in Wadowice, which has organised Polish language courses and specialised vocational training. For children who study remotely at a Ukrainian school, the Centre organises Polish language classes twice a week. However, there is a need for conducting other extracurricular and integration activities. They will be carried out as part of the project in cooperation with our partner, the St Jadwiga Królowa School Complex No. 2 in Andrychów.
We plan to carry out the following activities: integration and activation module, including individual meetings and workshops, individual and group counselling; vocational activation module for refugee women, offering individual and group vocational counselling; module for counteracting the exclusion of refugees on the labour market, including cooperation with employers and group and individual support; module for social integration of young people.
As part of the project activities, we want to draw attention to the needs of employers in the Wadowice district and raise their awareness of the problems faced by refugees entering the labour market.
Summary of project results
The implementation of the support was a response to the current needs of refugees staying in Poland and planning employment. ZCDK has noticed an increased interest in finding a job as part of its current activities by increasing interest in support in the field of professional activation. As part of other project activities, ZCDK offered vocational education, including internships and training (including vocational and language training), but there was no support from specialists for integration and movement on the labor market/career advisors supporting refugees.
The main goal of the project was the professional activation of 20 refugee women on the regional labor market, as well as counteracting discrimination and professional exclusion of refugees on the Polish labor market among 10 employers and social integration of 12 children from UA.
