Description
In this project, we are increasing young people''s civic engagement in the field of sustainable development, environmental protection and tackling climate change. We are implementing the project in the Warmian-Mazurian and Pomeranian Provinces in cross-sectoral cooperation between entities from Poland and Norway. The entities involved are: three social partners, a business-related institution, three municipalities and nine educational institutions. As part of the project, we introduce an innovative method of working with young people, including municipal youth councils. We initiate and support cooperation between NGOs and educational institutions, and develop environmental education in schools. We carry out diagnoses of needs and resources in the field of ecology and sustainable development in the three municipalities where the project is implemented. We organise information, consultation and diagnostic meetings with municipal authorities. We conduct workshops on climate change. We test in the municipalities the youth initiatives that emerge from the meetings and workshops. We promote youth entrepreneurship in the field of green growth. We want to implement the most interesting ideas of young people in these municipalities.
Summary of project results
The aim was to increase regional civic and social involvement in counteracting negative climate change by supporting third sector organizations and related units working for the young generation in the regions of Warmia and Mazury and Pomerania.
The communication channels created in the project (Internet, telephone, e-mail, instant messengers) allow for efficient exchange of observations and important information among both partners and effective reaching of project recipients. Thanks to the project, we have permanently introduced ESG training in social enterprises (11 items) into our offer. A Book of Good Practices (1 piece) was created by the youth, which is an inspiration for the local government units cooperating with us to continue similar project initiatives.
Thanks to the project, social and local government organizations gained the opportunity to internationalize their activities and improve their competences in working with youth in the field of green and blue growth. Their ability to counteract the negative effects of climate change has increased. The project supported the development of a long-term ecological strategy, promoting the pro-ecological activity of the young generation in peripheral regions. Institutional development is also a success - effective building of the Leader''s and Partners'' brand as institutions involved in the activities pro-ecological and supporting young people with the support of local government activities, has strengthened our position as organizations effectively working for the development of local communities with the support of the local government.
Summary of bilateral results
The cooperation with the Norwegian partners went according to plan and was very fruitful. Regular online meetings and joint planning of activities allowed for the effective implementation of the project assumptions. The Norwegian partners, especially Fønix, showed great commitment and willingness to share their knowledge and experience. Representatives of the Norwegian Partner participated in events in Poland (initial and final conference). A key element of this cooperation was a study visit to Norway. During the visit, we learned about the organizational structure and scope of Fønix''s activities, including the Department of Youth Development and NAV - the Norwegian Labour and Social Welfare Office. We also visited GET Academy, a social enterprise specializing in innovative teaching of computer coding skills and the development of social competences of young people. Another important aspect of the visit was the workshops and co-creation laboratory, which aimed to familiarize with the IPS method (Innovation Partnership Scheme). These workshops enabled the exchange of knowledge and experiences between organizations from Poland and Norway, contributing to increased creativity in building a civil and ecological society at the local level.
