Description

The aim of the project is to increase the integration of young people in a migrant situation residing in the City of Lublin and the Lublin County through preparing these people for active participation in social and professional life. After the Russian aggression against Ukraine in February 2022, many non-governmental organisations, local governments and individuals became involved in helping people fleeing the war. This situation has shown that as a society we are willing and able to help those who urgently need this help. However, it is worth remembering that in many places in Poland people from Ukraine live who came to our country before the war, as well as migrants of other nationalities. Such people also need support, above all systemic support. Therefore, in this project we offer assistance to migrants who have been living in Poland for some time. We also want to use these people’s potential in their current situation, because their engagement might help them to gain a sense of control and influence over their lives and their surroundings. Our partner has conducted its own research, which shows that the problems of migrants, especially young people of different nationalities, are different from those of Ukrainian refugees. The biggest problems such people face include: lack of support, unequal treatment, bureaucracy and unclear regulations, language problems, isolation, lack of cultural exposure, xenophobia. In response to these challenges, we are planning in this project: a public awareness campaign, a diagnosis of the competences and aptitudes of the migrants, group counselling, individual counselling, mentoring, cultural workshops and intercultural training for employers from different sectors. The direct beneficiaries of the project are 40 people in a migrant situation, especially aged 15-25, residing in Lublin and the Lublin County.
