Description
The aim of the project is to support the Georgian minority in the field of human rights through individual consultations and work with institutions whose activities affect Georgian citizens. Georgians are the third largest group of migrants in Lower Silesia, after Ukrainians and Belarusians. According to estimates by the Honorary Consulate of Georgia in Wrocław, the size of this group is over 15,000 people. It is also necessary to support people from Georgia who came to Poland in connection with the war in Ukraine, and who are not entitled to refugee status because they do not have Ukrainian citizenship. These people need support in particular in accessing information about their rights. As part of the project, we provide consultations in Georgian. During the consultations, these people can obtain basic information about the functioning of institutions in Poland, what the tasks of individual offices are in contact with migrants from Georgia, where to deal with a given matter and to whom to apply for help. Legal support includes basic advice on labour law. We also provide information on intervention points, psychological support and help for families. In this project we are also creating a network of institutions and organisations working for Georgian migrants. The people engaged in the network''s activities will support the functioning of the residents of Lower Silesia of Georgian origin. Together with these individuals and institutions, we will organise training courses on, among other things, intercultural differences and migrants'' rights. We are also planning to set up an association of Georgian citizens residing in Wrocław. The main beneficiaries of the project are Georgian citizens living in Lower Silesia and the City of Wrocław. We are also targeting project activities at people from various institutions who come into contact with migrants from this country.
