Description

The Elblag Association For Non Governmental Initiative Support has developed its 2021-2027 strategy in a participatory manner in cooperation with its members and staff. We have also conducted surveys among stakeholders. The strategy was adopted by a resolution of the Management Board in 2020. As part of the project, we want to focus on several activities within the following strategic areas: 1. A closed-loop economy – giving objects a second life, protecting the environment; 2. Socio-professional reintegration – running a socio-professional reintegration programme for people at risk of social exclusion, 3. Transnational cooperation – identifying similar projects and disseminating them in the non-governmental sector in Poland; 4. Research and social innovation – launching and running a Centre for the Repair and Reuse of Objects; 5. Social economy – demonstrating (by our own example) how to develop a social enterprise operating in the area of the closed-loop economy and encouraging others to take initiatives in the area of the European Green Deal; 6. Strong civic siciety organisations – animation and advisory support for 3 organisations to develop a concept for their closed-loop economy activities. 7. Active communities and the Grant Fund – support of 2 groups of citizens/local communities in the form of a grant to implement their own initiatives in the field of the closed-loop economy and or environmental education. The development of the concept and documentation related to the launch of the Centre for the Repair and Reuse of Objects is a strategic and horizontal direction for the development of the Elblag Association For Non Governmental Initiative Support, which horizontally influences the development of our other programme areas. Furthermore, it influences the Association''s organisational capacity, by supporting the development of appropriate infrastructure and material resources. It also helps strengthen the process of economising the organisation.

Summary of project results

The aim of the project was the institutional development of the association and support for the implementation of our development strategy until 2027.

As part of the project, we focused on several strategic areas:

1. Development of the circular economy (circular economy) - activities aimed at giving objects a second life, protecting the natural environment and ecological education;

2. Socio-professional reintegration - the creation of the Model Center for the Repair and Reuse of Objects (CNiPUP), as an entity running a socio-professional reintegration program for people at risk of social exclusion, implementing courses and vocational internships and supporting employment on the open labor market.

3. Transnational cooperation - within our database of foreign partners, including those from the EEA Donor States, we wanted to identify projects in the circular economy area and transfer their experiences and disseminate them in the non-governmental sector in the region.

4. Research and social innovation - launching CNiPUP and its management by a non-governmental organization as a social innovation on a Polish scale. So far, we have seen this model at our Italian partner CAUTO.

5. Social economy - supporting NGOs and economizing the activities of other organizations. We taught how to develop a social enterprise in the circular economy trend and encourage others to take initiatives in the area of the European Green Deal, because under the new 2021-2027 perspective, a significant number of jobs are to be created in social enterprises in this area.

6. Strong civic organizations - in the Warmia and Mazury region we have very few organizations operating in the circular economy area, so our goal was to provide animation and advisory support to other organizations to develop the concept of their activities in this area.

7. Active communities and the ESWIP Grant Fund - supporting residents/local communities with grants from our Fund so that they can implement initiatives in the field of circular economy/ecological education.

As part of the project:

- we have established 1 interdisciplinary team of experts to develop a model for the Center for the Repair and Reuse of Objects (CNiPUP);

- we have developed 1 CNiPUP model, taking into account various functional variants;

- 1 CNiPUP feasibility study was created; - we created 1 functional concept of CNiPUP along with construction and executive documentation;

- we have prepared 2 applications for the establishment of CNiPUP;

- we conducted 3 webinars disseminating transnational solutions in the circular economy area;

- we conducted 1 conference for organizations and social enterprises operating or wanting to undertake activities in the area of circular economy;

-we have developed 3 scenarios/concepts of activities in the circular economy area for social organizations from the region

- we carried out 4 trainings/workshops for 15 ESWIP employees to improve their competences, in this area of circular economy;

- 40% of participants of the Social Integration Center found a job.

The implementation of the project will influence the long-term development of the ESWIP Association and will contribute to the implementation of the development vision. The project will indirectly affect the ability to take action in various program areas, including the ability and effectiveness to carry out activities in the field of socio-professional reintegration - each year, as part of CNiPUP, several dozen people will acquire qualifications necessary to take up employment and social economy and support social organizations to increase the number of entities that employ excluded people, especially in circular economy initiatives. The institutional grant was entirely used to prepare a major development stage of the association - the establishment of a new center for the repair and reuse of objects, adequate to the needs and capabilities of the city of Elbląg and the surrounding area. The added value is that we managed to convince the local government to combine the project with the construction of a new PSZOK. We saw such a solution during a study visit to Gothenburg (Sweden). From the association''s point of view, the new Center (CNiPUP) is a natural consequence of previously undertaken activities - launching a pilot CNiPUP as part of the Social Integration Center operating in Dom pod Cisem, which is run by the ESWIP Association: https://www.facebook.com/dompodcisem
