Description

The Violence Meter is a comprehensive prevention, education and support tool to prevent domestic violence, addressed to young people. We implement it at all stages of the project together with the target group. Numerous data show that young people, especially women aged 13-25, are the group most vulnerable to acts of sexual violence. In addition, research shows that people who lack support are more likely to suffer harm. Within the project, the Violence Meter will be used as a tool consisting of 3 elements. The first one is a bookmark used to identify violent behaviour by a partner. A ruler printed on the bookmark, on which, as the values along the measure increase, the behaviours attributed to each number are shown, will allow to quickly assess whether a relationship is healthy, or whether there is violence in it. The second element of the Violence Meter is an education and information portal. The website will contain a downloadable bookmark file and a visual representation of the behaviours included on the ruler. It will also contain information for those seeking help, those witnessing violence and those providing help. The third element is an alarm and help application for making contact through a direct connection with qualified personnel in the event of a psychological crisis. In line with the ‘nothing about us without us’ principle, young people are involved in designing the tool through competitions and partnerships with educational institutions. The Violence Meter was developed in Latin America, and in 2019 it was introduced to France thanks to the mayor of Paris, the Observatory on Violence Against Women in Saint-Denis and the organisation En Avant Toute(s). In Poland, it is introduced by the "Poster-women against violence against women" and Soroptimist International The First Club in Wroclaw.

Summary of project results

The project is aimed at young people aged 13-25. The first activities under the project were carried out in December 2021 as part of the Orange the World campaign by promoting the Przemocometer project in Wysokie Obcasy, SM and radio. With our activities, we reached experts, people from target groups and cooperating entities, and volunteers, which allowed us to develop and verify specific activities aimed strictly at the target group. We have established cooperation with employees of the Department. Health and Social Affairs , MOPS, WCRS, Dept. Journalism, Faculty Psychology at DSW, Youth Sociotherapy Center, psychologists and organizations providing direct support to people affected by violence (CPK, Herstory, Men Against Violence Association, Evolutio Psychoeducation and Therapy Association, Feniks Foundation for Counteracting Violence, Women''s Congress). The city of Wrocław also offered cooperation in the project.

The key elements of the project have been implemented: desktop website and mobile version, printout of the violence meter-ruler, information and educational materials (leaflets, stickers, banners, posters, roll-ups, visual materials, educational films). Training was prepared and conducted for various recipient groups based on the developed outlines. Outlines for experts were prepared for working with students. Training was conducted. The result of our activities are partnerships acquired not only in Lower Silesia but also throughout Poland. The violence meter as a project and tool was discussed on mainstream portals, in fashion magazines, and was used for public debate by experts, including judges (24 subsequent publications on the Internet in the second reporting period alone). Cooperation with external entities allowed the creation of two spots for social campaigns, which are based on the Przemocometer and included it as a tool. The partners in these activities were the city of Częstochowa and Warszawa Śródmieście (with which 15,000 bookmarks were additionally distributed to schools). Training in the field of institutional development, which the project members could benefit from, brought tangible benefits already in the first months, enabling the achievement of 300k views of a single TikTok and 26k direct reactions, which proves the high involvement of the project''s target group aged 13-25. During the project, a relationship was built between the leader and the partner. It is an educational process based on respect for different needs and views. Elements of the communication action plan were implemented in terms of reaching the target group, engaging them in co-creating the project through volunteering at Opener and PolandRock, among others, by collecting signatures for the petition we created. We gained allies to distribute and promote the tool. We engaged experts and reached out to the aid community for educational purposes. The third period of the project produced significant results in terms of activities, communication and positioning. The project gained recognition, reached various audiences, and its online visibility was significantly strengthened. The work and achievements completed were in line with the assumptions of the "Przemocometer" project and even significantly exceeded the initial assumptions. The project received the Best Practice award from the Soroptimist International Federation, competing with hundreds of other projects. The violence meter as a tool and the entire project are being implemented in other European Soroptimist clubs of the federation. In summary, the products and results of the "Przemocometer" project seem to be sustainable and have the potential to continue after the end of the project. Over the course of three reporting periods, we managed to develop a wide range of educational materials, interactive tools and social activities that can serve as lasting resources for the community.

The project achieved significant reach and engagement on social media platforms, which can ensure continued dialogue and action after the project ends. Additionally, numerous educational initiatives, such as workshops for children and young people and online educational materials, have the potential to have a long-term impact on the community by supporting awareness and skills to deal with violence. The increased visibility of the project in search results and activity on websites indicate continued public interest in the topic of counteracting violence. Violence meter bookmark: educational material that can be used by recipients for a long time, which contributes to increasing public awareness of violence. Posters in multiple formats: Posters are visual material that can be used in public or educational spaces to remind people of the project and raise awareness. Stickers from the "violence meter" tool in a large format: Stickers can be used to identify places that support the project''s ideas, which can contribute to the long-term consolidation of the message. Large force meter tabs: Like the tabs previously mentioned, they can be used as permanent educational materials. Summary brochure, film about the project, videos for the SM advertising campaign, new articles, iconography for the website, graphics for the campaign, interactive tests and conversation simulations: These materials can be available online after the end of the project, continuing education and anti-violence activities. Scenarios of workshops for children, workshops for children and teenagers, podcast, articles on websites, workshops at the Poland Rock festival: These activities are intended for direct participation and may inspire other institutions to organize similar initiatives. On-page chat box, Google page awareness reports, content guide, website linking, SEO articles: These elements help maintain the online presence of the project after completion, which can have long-term public awareness benefits. Achieved results in terms of reach on social media platforms (TikTok, Instagram, Facebook): These figures demonstrate the significant impact of the project on the online community, which can ensure continuation of discussions and activities after the end of the project. In summary, the products and activities of the Przemocometer project have the potential to have a lasting impact on the community, continuing educational and social activities after the end of the project.
