In view of the rapid development of digital technologies and the consequences of THE COVID-19 virus, the exclusion of older people from society and the opportunities to participate in the culture of democracy has increased significantly.
Consequently,issues relating to the opportunities for seniors to use modern computer technology, Internet and mobility capabilities, so that seniors have equal opportunities to engage in democratic processes and are equivalent to citizens of society.
Objective of the project is-Information and capacity building for seniors in the use of digital technologies in the context of green mobility to strengthen the culture, participation and civic awareness of democracy. Green mobility is a smart and sustainable movement that allows safe, convenient and free movement (both for individuals and for older people and for society as a whole) to move and meet their basic physical, social, mental and cultural needs, ensuring the existence of a healthy ecosystem and its sustainability, and ensuring equality between generations. 
Riga and Riga region are the largest agglomerations of all cities in the Baltic States. The activities of the project affect a significant part of society, or 26% of all residents of Riga City over the age of 60, or about 1 68265 seniors, as well as Pierga seniors. 
As part of the project activities,an informational and educational campaign will be organised. The digital skills of seniors,new mobility opportunities and the capacity of seniors to use digital participation platforms and networks for the involvement of seniors in urban and societal processes will be strengthened. 
A platform "E-seniors" will be created,negotiated meetings will be organised and a centre for intergenerational resources and cooperation will be set up, thereby strengthening the integration of seniors into the cultural life of democracy and strengthening the awareness of citizenship.

Summary of project results

Taking into account the rapid development of digital technologies and the consequences caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the exclusion of seniors from society and the opportunities to participate in the field of democratic culture has significantly increased.
Therefore, questions about seniors'' opportunities to use modern technologies, internet and mobility opportunities are brought up, so that seniors have equal opportunities to participate in daily activities and democratic processes, as well as seniors become equal citizens of society.
The aim of the project is to inform seniors and increase their abilities in the use of digital technologies in connection with green mobility to strengthen democratic culture, participation and civic awareness.

-Conversation think tank "RASA speaks!" for the involvement of seniors in civic activities - meetings with the members of the local government
-A study on the challenges of the digital age for the promotion of a culture of democracy
-Young people''s voluntary work to increase the digital abilities of seniors
-The campaign "Senior, be digital and mobile and engage in civic activities!" - a campaign for the education of seniors
-Participation of seniors in urban planning processes - seniors were involved in four urban planning initiatives
-Strengthening participation abilities of seniors in the use of digital platforms - digital skills training
-Theoretical and practical training for seniors in the use of bicycles and electric bicycles for participation in civic activities - trips so that seniors can test the city''s mobility and submit their suggestions for its improvement to the municipality
-Creation of a network of civic cooperation organizations (CSOs) - a network of organizations defending the interests of seniors
-Exchange of experience with partners on democratic culture and digital opportunities - experience exchange trip to Iceland, Estonia; meetings with various organizations

-Informing seniors and increasing their abilities in the use of digital technologies in connection with green mobility to strengthen democratic culture, participation and civic awareness has been achieved

-Digital trainings, discussions of various scales were organized, seniors were involved in city planning, shared bicycle training and cycling on city bike paths, afterwards submitting their suggestions for its improvement to the local municipality

-A digital book has been developed, which appeals to seniors and inspires them to focus on new civic activities and believe in the values of democracy in Latvia

-Several digital participation platforms adapted to the needs of seniors

Summary of bilateral results

The cooperation with the partner succeeded in full, because all the necessary information about the democratic culture of seniors in Iceland was received and the "bread of the road" was brought home - the idea of establishing a council of seniors in Riga municipality, which the association wants to gradually implement. The association''s cooperation with GRUND will be continued in further projects and activities of the association.
