Programme:

Description

The project aims to address several key challenges in the region, including the declining youth population due to emigration, the absence of cultural entrepreneurship, and various other community-related issues.

A key objective of the project is to revive cultural entrepreneurship in the region by restoring a complex of buildings that are part of its rich cultural heritage. Once restored, the complex will serve as a hub for training, education, and the development of new cultural services and activities. The central focus of the project is the deep history and rich cultural heritage of Kuliai region. The development of unique cultural activities will help to enhance the knowledge and understanding of the region’s history and heritage across Lithuania.

The project will achieve five key goals upon completion:

1) The Kuliai Church building complex will be fully restored for cultural activities;

2) Community members will enhance their cultural entrepreneurship skills through practical seminars and events;

3) New cultural services will be created;

4) A visual and narrative identity will be developed for the region;

5) The community will be introduced to a variety of creative cultural expressions, including theater, dance, classical music performances, exhibitions, tours, and other cultural activities.

Additionally, the project will foster and promote ongoing dialogue between local cultural institutions, the municipality, the community, and businesses.

Summary of project results

Projects goal was to improve entrepreneurial skills of community members by strengthening local cultural-historical identity. A key objective of the project was to restore a historically significant building, adapt it for cultural, artistic and educational activities, and create new local products. This was essential for adapting local resources to meet today''s needs, fostering sustainable development that ensures long-term prosperity for the community.

As a result of the project implementation:

  • The 18th-century building was successfully restored and reopened to the community, offering space for new cultural activities.
  • A new brand, "Kultūros virenė," was developed, complete with a marketing strategy and visual identity.
  • Ten cultural entrepreneurship sessions and four entrepreneurship events were held in the region.
  • Project partners produced 12 theater plays, which were performed at least 35 times in Kuliai.
  • New educational services were established in the restored building, including informal cultural education for youth, historical tours of Kuliai, theatrical education, art residencies, and a local market.

The restored building complex now serves as a local cultural hub, hosting various educational programs and cultural events that contribute to the development of the community and region. Additionally, the newly created cultural services and products have contributed to community revitalisation. Through practical seminars and events, members of the community enhanced their cultural entrepreneurship skills. This has contributed to empowering local people to pursue their own cultural ventures and contribute to local development.
