Description

The project is addressing the challenges of an aging society and the ''silver economy'' by ensuring that participants aged 54+ remain active and community-integrated for as long as possible. This will be done through providing consultations, mentoring, and practical training on social entrepreneurship for "Silver Startups", and creating an e-platform for the products manufactured by senior citizens of Panevėžys city. The target group of the project is "Silver Startupers" of Panevėžys city (people 54+), seeking to acquire knowledge and practical skills of social entrepreneurship. The following project results are to be achieved: 100 "Silver Startupers" from Panevėžys will participate in the project activities, including a social entrepreneurship skills training program that will be followed by consultations and practical creative workshops (e.g., pottery, art, etc.).  E-platform for products will be created and manufactured by "Silver Startups" will be developed together with video reports promoting social entrepreneurship. It is also expected that the emotional and mental health of "Silver Startupers" will improve, efforts to remain active and communal for as long as possible will increase, competencies in learning to learn, communicate and cooperate will be deepened, and new social entrepreneurship skills will be acquired, for instance, creativity of "silver people" will be encouraged through experiential training.

Summary of project results

The project addressed the challenges of an ageing society and the integration of participants in the Silver Economy aged 54+ to remain active and communitybased for as long as possible. In the context of the "silver economy" it is not only important for business, science to prepare to adapt products, services, infrastructure to the "silver person", but it is also important to position the "silver person" himself to remain active and community-minded. All this has led to the formulation of the problem in terms of the following problematic questions: how to encourage and involve "silver people" in informal employment activities? how to implement the activities of "silver people" through the prism of social entrepreneurship? how to market the products created by "silver people"?

The main activities implemented were the establishment of a creative art workshop, the development of a programme of theoretical and practical training in social entrepreneurship for Silver Startups, the organisation of theoretical and practical training in social entrepreneurship for Silver Startups, and the provision of consultancy and mentoring support for Silver Startups. A new non-formal employment service was provided in Panevėžys - Creative Art Workshops, which included theoretical social entrepreneurship and ceramics workshops - to meet the needs of a vulnerable group (older people).

The main results of the project were that 100 older people from Panevėžys participated in the theoretical and practical social entrepreneurship training programme "For Silver Startups" in the Creative Art Workshop. The e-sales platform "Ceramics for Silver Startups" on Facebook was created. The project is aimed at the "Silver Startups" of Panevėžys aged 54+, who not only participated in informal employment activities, but also improved their learning, communication and cooperation competences, acquired new knowledge in social entrepreneurship, promoted creativity and improved their emotional and mental health.
