Description

MdM-Greece three-year strategic / operational plan 2023-2026 is designed across two main axes: The first concerns the Internal Environment which includes the -"timeless" - structural axes of the organization – i.e. Governance | Administration, Collaborations, Development, Communication - and the second the External Environment which includes the thematic axes of the organization for the specific period of time - i.e. Environment and Vulnerable populations, Refugees and Migrants, Health and Protection of Mother and Child, Capacity Building - Integration and Inclusion, Emergency Response. In the document’s introduction, a brief reference is made to the Vision, the Values, the philosophy, the approach and the added value of the organization, while the turnover of the Organization during the last year is also presented.

The SWOT and VRIO analysis tools are used in combination to give a more complete picture of the comparative advantages, strengths and weaknesses or threats that the Organization may face. The risks are also presented in more detail in a separate section of the document along with the probability of their occurrence, the potential impact and the prevention and mitigation measures/strategies to be followed. At the end of the strategic plan, measurable objectives and SMART performance indicators for the next 3 years (2023-2026) are presented in a table / graph that includes the structural / vertical axes and the thematic / horizontal axes of the Organization''s strategy.

MdM-Greece strategic plan is also in line with the MdM International Network strategic plan in terms of duration and thematic priorities.

Summary of project results

The project led by Doctors of the World aimed to address critical challenges both within the organization and in its broader impact on vulnerable populations. Internally, the project focused on strengthening governance, management, organizational growth, and building a solid foundation for long-term sustainability through improved structures, enhanced networking, and strategic collaborations. Externally, the project aimed to increase the relevance and impact of Doctors of the World’s initiatives in Greece and internationally by prioritizing key thematic areas, such as environmental challenges for vulnerable groups, refugee and migrant health, maternal and child health, social inclusion, capacity-building, and emergency interventions. These themes were carefully selected based on context analyses to ensure alignment with emerging needs, aiming to bridge past experiences with future innovation and enhance the organization''s capacity for impactful expansion in an increasingly complex and unpredictable environment.

he Organisational Grants do not include funding for the activities and outputs directly; rather, they are intended to support the core capacities and strategic development of the organisation itself.

The organisational development program implemented by Doctors of the World (Médecins du Monde - MdM) Greece successfully achieved significant outcomes, enhancing both their internal capabilities and the support provided to vulnerable populations. Firstly, MdM Greece installed two key software packages, one for Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and another for Project Management (PM). The CRM system, tailored to the needs of three organizational departments, improved collaboration and efficiency, thanks to multiple training sessions with the supplier, Connectable. Similarly, the selected PM software, "Monday," facilitated project tracking for 10 users, streamlining task coordination and ensuring efficient resource management. MdM also invested in a cloud server for secure, scalable data storage, which enabled smoother operations.

The organisation’s digital capacity was further enhanced with a new website, showcasing their activities more effectively and supporting their digital campaigns. One such campaign, titled "We Don’t Care," launched in March 2023, promoted universal health coverage, aligning with the WHO''s Sustainable Development Goals. It was widely disseminated through social media, TV, radio, and outdoor advertising, amplifying MdM Greece''s message on equal health access.

MdM Greece also strengthened collaborations through Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with key public entities, such as the University of the Aegean and the Municipality of Thessaloniki. These partnerships expanded MdM’s advocacy reach, particularly in areas related to migration and public health, thus benefiting marginalized groups including refugees, Roma communities, and the homeless. Moreover, MdM’s involvement in advocacy networks, like the DisQo Network, promoted health equity by addressing racism and discrimination as social determinants of health. They also and continued their participation in FEANTSA, enhancing MdM Greece’s role in international advocacy efforts focused on health and housing.

Lastly, MdM Greece conducted emergency response training and developed rapid-response protocols, ensuring they are well-prepared to mobilize resources swiftly in crises. Their presence in Ukraine and Turkey post-earthquake exemplified this readiness. Overall, these initiatives contributed significantly to MdM’s operational resilience and reinforced their commitment to providing equitable healthcare access for Greece’s most vulnerable.
