The aim of vocational orientation training is to offer students the opportunity to develop their learning, career planning and social competences through structured learning activities. There is a strong emphasis in creating or restoring ones learning habits. Each student has their own individual learning path, based on their existing competencies and level of education achieved. Students become familiar with interesting disciplines during work practice at school or in undertakings.

Measurable results of the project:

1. At least 75% of programme participants complete full-time vocational orientation training (i.e. are able to remain in training);

2. At least 50% of young people who have completed vocational orientation training are ready to enter the labour market or continue with their studies;

3. A total of 85 student places will be created during the 30 month duration of the project;

4. The curriculum at the Tartu Vocational Education Centre has been updated based on the needs of students and the labour market.

Summary of project results

There is a strong emphasis in creating or restoring ones learning habits. Each student has their own individual learning path, based on their existing competencies and level of education achieved. Students become familiar with interesting disciplines during work practice at school or in undertakings.

Project offered vocational orientation training to students in order to give them the opportunity to develop their learning, career planning and social competences through structured learning activities.

During 3 school years, Tartu Vocational Education Centre (VOCO) carried out 6 vocational orientation groups (6 months programme of 30 EKAP) with 117 students in total and of them 98 students graduating the course. Exit interviews showed that 91 students found the course helpful in order to continue studies at a specific vocation or move on to the labour market.

VOCO is continuing the vocational orientation programme with a special programme created also for Ukrainian war refugees.
