Description

The first aim is to keep creative young people and adults in education and to support their entry into the labour market, even if they have special social, educational or language needs. The Tartu Art School’s approach develops 21st century skills (critical thinking and problem solving, creativity, communication and collaboration). Employing creative people in any professional field raises the level of problem-solving skills and innovation due to the cooperation of students and staff working there.

The second aim is to offer basic school graduates a safe year of vocational selection, where it is possible to take the time necessary to get acquainted with specialties in the field of design, get to know oneself through creative activities, try teamwork and learn the Estonian language. A person who has completed this type of learning is better prepared to enter regular education and the possibility of their studies being interrupted is significantly reduced.

Specific situation for autumn 2023: Tartu Art School has two KUVA curricula for two different target groups, which have also been implemented in two years and supported by the development process.

A total of 32 people have had the opportunity to participate in choice of profession training and at least half of them are ready to continue their education at the 4th level of choice of profession training or are entering the labour market. They have a willingness to learn, general awareness of the field of design, experience in team and project work, and the courage to choose a motivating specialty to study.
