Description

R8tech is an Estonian software company that has developed a rapidly integrated software solution for shopping centers, hotels, offices, public sector buildings, etc., which can be used to set the building''s optimal indoor climate with one click and thereby achieve heating, ventilation and cooling (HVAC) by optimizing the systems, an average of 13.5% savings from the general energy costs of the building. R8tech''s digital operator connects cooling, heating, ventilation and indoor climate in large buildings using software and puts artificial intelligence all this in the existing BMS (Building Management System, building control automation), while also taking into account, for example, weather forecast and electricity exchange prices.

In the second project, R8tech develops a climate panel that regulates the indoor climate of buildings, which allows to increase the average savings of the building''s energy costs up to 20% (a 6.5% increase compared to the situation before the project). As a result of the first Green ICT project, R8tech digital is possible the operator''s customers can finally see the effect of changing the indoor climate on energy consumption, which in turn creates assumptions for additional energy savings. As part of the climate panel, climate models are developed for better operation of the indoor climate of buildings, on top of which the climate panel itself is built in software.

The purpose of the additional call project is to create an application for the existing R8tech climate panel, which would enable R8tech customers to participate in the flexible energy management market based on the desired indoor climate parameters. This flexibility service offering is a new component in the entire R8tech ecosystem, which is directly related to the operation of the digital operator. In other words, it is a completely new level of "smart flexibility service", which is based on the desired indoor climate.

Summary of project results

Project targeted the improvements of R8tech’s existing Climate Panel application so that clients could change the most critical control parameters of the building and see those changes immediate impact on the indoor climate and energy performance.

In the project, an application was created for the existing R8tech climate panel, with which R8tech customers would be able to participate in the flexible energy management market based on the desired indoor climate parameters. It is a completely new level of "smart flexibility service", which is based on the desired indoor climate.

For this purpose, the effects of factors influencing the building''s energy management were modeled (e.g. room types, indoor climate data, etc.), on the basis of which optimization algorithms were developed. These optimization algorithms and models were used to create a flexible energy management application for the climate panel. In the process, the application architecture was also created and customer tests were carried out.

As a result of the project, a smart flexibility service based on the desired indoor climate was completed. The solution is designed and working and allows users to optimize the temperature flexibly and based on their needs.
