Description
Roofit.solar is Estonian company, whose innovative metal roof replaces traditional solar panels with a 2in1 roofing solution that produces electricity across the thin photovoltaic layer that covers the metal sheet. This makes installation of solar roof the same as that of a regular standing seam metal roof.
The objective of this project is to innovate and automate the production process and sales tools of the innovative and sustainable Roofit.solar metal panels. The focus is on developing a new Roofit.solar software, which can be used globally for designing and planning of metal solar roofs and facades.
Project is implemented with a Norwegian partner, a roofing company Søran AS, who contributes to the success of this project by their knowledge and experience.
Main target groups are households and building owners (private or public), who want to contribute fighting climate change by having their own “green energy station” i.e metal solar roof. The environmental effect can be achieved globally, since our building material is universal and applicable in different climates and geographical locations. Our targeted users are people who have a roof and who consume energy.
Summary of project results
The project addressed the lack of innovation and automation in the production as the main challenge. Therefore the main priority was to develop the full planning capability and analysis of solar roof projects. For this a new Roofit.Solar software was developed, that can be used globally for designing and planning of metal solar roofs and facades.
Roofit.Solar has developed software that combines designing, planning, and selling a solar roof into a single software called Roofit.App. It enables users to draw roof plans, analyse energy production, and create offers with automatically calculated materials. The software also includes a sales tool for creating indicative offers efficiently. Also, the production line of the solar roof material was developed and built that improved the Roofit Solar production line and boosted developing more advance and automated production.
The production received improvements by an automatic encapsulant cutter and perforator that improved traceability of products and quality issues, also in the after-lamination conveyor section processes. Roofit.app as a planning software has been developed to fully functional product to support Roofit.Solar product sales.
Roofit.app software has been made accessible to all partners by creating an accounts system that allows our partners to access all the developed functionalities to manage solar projects and also support their own local partners within Roofit.App.
Summary of bilateral results
The Norwegian partner was only active at the beginning of the project and unfortunately was not very interested in contributing during the entire 3 years. Additionally, 2 years of COVID travel restrictions affected the partnership.
