Description
Due to the massive addition of variable (hardly predictable) renewable energy sources (like wind, solar), due to the goal to operate energy networks more efficiently and due to the increase of energy consumers’ awareness there is a growing need for the flexibility in the energy system. Flexible generation and consumption enable to keep investments into networks and conventional power plants (which are normally not environmentally friendly) relatively low. At the same time, they enable to ensure high reliability of energy system, competitive energy price and cleaner living environment. For this, the project aims to provide solutions for resource savings through energy efficiency, savings of energy costs and environmental sustainability in the energy sector (foremost in electricity and heating). Saaremaa will be used as testbed for demonstrating these solutions but ensuring the scalability of the results. Soletek sees itself as ESCO (Energy Service Company) providing energy savings as service to its customers and sharing the benefit from the savings with the customer.
Target groups of the project are local governments; energy utilities and operators of public buildings.
Soletek has previous cooperation experience with Norwegian partner Enoco. Both expect to continue this cooperation.
