Description
The main aim of the project is to increase the media literacy of target groups and thus strengthen their ability to defend against misinformation and media threats in public space, which are necessary for life and active participation in the democratic life of society in the context of current and future media threats.
Seniors will participate in educational workshops, receive educational materials and participate in e-learning activities. They will also be involved in the initial phase of the project in the creation of educational materials (focus groups). Ten seniors will also be trained as peer tutors. Young people aged 15-17 will be involved in the project in the role of intergenerational workshop lecturers.
The aim will be fulfilled through the creation of educational materials (one in text form and one in the form of e-learning, both with instructions for trainers and librarians), the creation of methodology for educational workshops for seniors and the implementation of educational workshops for seniors, creation of an educational video and a web page of the project.
The project will be implemented through a regional network in which libraries from two regions (Liberec and Hradec Králové) will be involved as partners. Another two libraries (in the Karlovy Vary and Ústí nad Labem regions), which will cooperate in disseminating the outputs. The system of libraries and their role as educational and information centres represent an extraordinary opportunity for lifelong learning.
Summary of project results
The starting point of the project was insufficient media literacy, which represents a serious risk for the security of the Czech Republic and its future democratic development. The main target group of the project were seniors who participated in educational workshops and received educational materials. However, only two senior lecturers and two student lecturers worked in their role. We expected more interest in co-financing the project.
The implemented an educational project. They created and distributed educational materials of high professional quality. One in text form and one in e-learning form, both with guidance for trainers and librarians for further use in education. 194 people signed up for e-learning. However, e-learning as a method has not proven itself very well for the senior age group. A methodology for educational workshops for seniors with presentations and worksheets was created. A total of 42 people participated in the workshops for librarians. They organized 29 educational workshops for seniors, which were attended by 310 people. The series of four educational videos was viewed by over 21,000 people. The materials can be downloaded free of charge both on the agorace.cz website, on the websites of partner libraries, and on the methodological portal for libraries knihovna.cz. They worked through regional libraries because similar activities are less available in the regions.
