Description
The mobility project aims to accelerate collaboration between VŠB-Technical University of Ostrava (TUO) and Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in the joint supervision of doctoral students, university education, research, and transfer of knowledge and experiences based on complementarity of Nanotechnology Centre at TUO and Institute of Physics at NTNU. As the highest-level university education, the supreme quality of the doctoral studies is essential for modern society.
The above mentioned activity will be performed on background in the following areas:
- design of fuel cells with structured surfaces,
- development of new low-consumption light sources with extraordinary properties as for example spin-lasers, spintronic emitters, terahertz lasers,
- application of novel ellipsometric techniques as Mueller matrix scatterometry and terahertz ellipsometry,
- development of advanced preparation and modeling of nanostructures, nanomaterials, and diffractive metasurfaces.
The mobility between TUO and NTNU in both directions will be targeted to selected excellent mainly doctoral students. The outcome of the project will be transfer of knowledge, strengthening of Czech-Norwegian cooperation, improvement of the international aspect of the study programme Nanotechnology, and publication of the project results in the form of doctoral and master thesis, scientific papers and international conferences presentations.
Summary of project results
In the frame of the project, we realized 6-month stay of PhD student of the study programme Nanotechnology, Technical University of Ostrava in NTNU. On the other side, two stays of Norwegian PhD student were realized in VSB-Technical University of Ostrava.
The realized research activity have accelerated fruitful collaboration between both universities, particularly in the complementary fields of advanced nanotechnology, precise characterization of materials and samples, development of new techniques for measurement of novel optical phenomena (THz optical activity, magnetoelectric plasmonics). This research fields are closely related to novel phenomena in the field of photovoltaics and Solar energy harvesting, laser technology, data transfer and communication, medical inspections, and sensoring. The transfered and explored knowledge will help to transform the developing Ostrava region.
Summary of bilateral results
The realized mobility and project activity have also enormous effect to participating universities and laboratories. Transfer of knowledge realized through student mobility has synergy effect in scientific research, further development of laboratory equipment, processing of measured data, and other joint research activity. Important is also acceleration of international collaboration between Nanotechnology Centre, VSB-Technical university of Ostrava and NTNU, Norway.
