Description

The project of EEA mobility grants represents a chance for TBU to become more visible partner in Norway. Participation in EEA grants is a prestigious issue which, as we hope, will improve the quality of the partnership, awareness of TBU abroad and the position of the university in world rankings. We consider this opportunity also as a manifestation of our support to VUC and as a tool for expanding student mobility options. There is no doubt that EEA represents an interesting opportunity for the overall development of internationalization at TBU as well as at VUC. For the purpose of EEA project application TBU selected long-term partner with already well-established exchange programs. We plan to support 6 talented outgoing students of animation and languages to undergo one-semester stay at VUC. These mobilities should increase the competitiveness of TBU graduates on modern labour markets. It is supposed that TBU students will, after their graduation, work not only in the Zlin Region, but also outside the region within the framework of the whole Czech Republic - and eventually, elsewhere in Europe and the world. The impact of experience that TBU students will gain will then exceed the region. Participants will be able to experience a different culture and learn to be responsible for themselves. They will be exposed to different teaching methods, learning environment, improve their language a social competences and skill.

Summary of project results

Cooperation between Tomas Bata University in Zlín (TBU) and Volda University College (VUC) was established in 2006. Since then, we have exchanged more than 100 students and staff. Therefore, we consider this partnership as one of the strongest in our portfolio. Unfortunately, our cooperation was limited only to Erasmus+ programme. Therefore, we were very delighted to have a chance to apply for the EEA grants. Participation in the EEA grants is a prestigious issue which, as we believe, has improved the quality of the partnership, awareness of TBU abroad and the position of the university in world rankings. Volda University College has proven itself as very attractive destination for our students and staff. Since 2006 we have nominated more than 60 students of animation and 30 students of languages to the mentioned university. However, numbers might have been much better as cost of living in Norway is extremely high (at least for Czech students). Generous financial support was one of the main reasons why TBU applied for the EEA grants. The other goal was to strengthen mutual cooperation.
