Description

The project focuses on the professionalization of the first Czech platform for dialogue between culture and education. The project will professionalize the uMENIM platform and thanks to that a strong, stable partner will start operating in the Czech Republic, developing interdisciplinary cooperation between art and education with significant benefits for both areas.

The project enables (with setting up cooperation processes, professional development of members, advocacy activities and setting up communication and fundraising strategies) to realize the full potential of the platform.

The project will benefit professional artists and actors from the creative industries who will gain access to new jobs, public administrators (politicians, officials, school founders) who will gain access to cultural expertise, schools, teachers, pupils, students, and children from disadvantaged social groups who will gain access to better education. For members of the platform, the project is important in terms of developing the skills of their staff.

The project will present, promote and defend the phenomenon of creative learning and interdisciplinary cooperation among artists, cultural organizations, schools and public administration entities. Thanks to the project, key competencies for pupils should be developed as well as teaching for both pupils and their parents should be improved. Furthermore, educational institutions and public administration bodies should be motivated to cooperate together and there should also be a positive impact on the development of cities and local communities.

Summary of project results

The education approach as defined now does not fully correspond to the needs of the 21st century children. We have to search for holistic and innovative approaches to develop relevant key competences in children. One of the solution is the „creative learning“.
Creative learning, in collaboration with artists and creative professionals, educates through art. Using its skills it develops children’s creative thinking and other competences and supports schools in search for innovative learning. The public authorities in the field of education and culture had not cooperated extensivelly before project implementation. The project focused on the professionalization of the first Czech platform for dialogue between culture and education called uMĚNÍM.  uMĚNÍM currently operates in the Czech Republic as the only organization of its kind and actively participates in the field of creative learning. The interest of our members and public authorities in our activties is higher than we expected.

Project was implementated in partnership with the Czech Society for Inclusive Education.  The platform members were divided into four working groups, which focused on the creation of fundraising and development strategies, stakeholder maps, communication campaigns, etc. Within 18 months we have stabilized our organization and made an increase in the membership base. Altogether 27 cultural organisations were involved in the project, and the number of trained cultural actors was almost doubled (48 insted of oplanned 27). In the area of communication and advocacy activities, more press releases were issued, more cultural networks were created and 5 round tables were held (the plan was to organise 1). Thanks to this project, uMĚNÍM can take next steps towards the realization of the set strategic goals, especially outwardly towards the politicians, schools and other stakelhoders.

uMĚNÍM aims at the professionalization of cultural business, development of the capacities of its members and integration of contemporary art into schools. Its recipients create long-term demand for changing types of participation, even more after the pandemic. In the past 2 years, the support of creative learning has become a phenomenon that has been increasingly enforcing in the field of cultural entrepreneurship, and which has also made contemporary art accessible to socially excluded groups. Not only the involved artists and actors from creative industries, who gained access to new knowledge, but also representatives of the public administration, schools, pupils and children from disadvantaged social groups will benefit from the project outputs in the long term. For the members of the platform, the project was significant in terms of the development of the skills of their representatives and the number of established partnerships.
