Description

Centre for innovation and refinement of audio-visual environment (CIRAE) is a space to foster discussions and reflections of current trends and phenomena in the audio-visual industry. CIRAE provides a platform for professionals, critics as well as the general public to navigate the ever-changing landscape of the audio-visual industry. The CIRAE objective is to create common awareness of the contexts of the industry and to offer refined feedback within all parts of the industry, including communication between producers and filmmakers; critics, cinema operators and distributors; and different interest groups. The project aims to connect all stakeholders, from individual filmmakers to audio-visual associations and platforms, in order to develop their skills and capabilities, to support networking and to help them define their strategies. Balancing workshop, industry meetings and public events, this unique platform will become a significant contributor in the development of creative, intellectual and action capacities of the audio-visual environment in the Czech Republic.

Summary of project results

The intention of the project was to create a new platform with a year-round activity aimed at emerging professionals in the field of audiovisual and to connect and support them. The challenge was overcoming the covid period and the subsequent drop in meetings that we had to repeatedly address during the project. At the same time, it also became logical that different lobby groups and platforms were interested in collaborating, but only to a certain extent and under certain rules.

Within the project we have implemented a number of industry brunches, residencies, workshops, networking meetings and public events. We have renovated an unoccupied space in Prague 5, where thanks to the synergy of collaborating organizations we have managed to realize a meeting place for professionals, institutions, networks and platforms. We have lobbied realistically and successfully for audiovisual issues at regional and national level, facing a complex and fragile audiovisual ecosystem. These activities have helped to connect audiences, critics and practitioners in the field of audiovisual, often on otherwise marginalized topics (experimental filmmaking, film education, LGBT, the status of women in the arts, etc.). At the same time, we have created a platform that can be implemented outside of CIKAP''s permanent headquarters. A development strategy has been implemented and evaluated. 31 cultural operators and 27 contemporary art networks were supported. 45 cultural actors were supported in training. Activities included 10 residencies, 14 public popularization events, 27 workshops and industry brunches. 9 workshops for networks and platforms were implemented. The project produced qualitative (deepening of knowledge and networking) and quantitative (number of events and continuation of the project) results.

The aim of the project was to develop and connect the movers and shakers of the audiovisual industry - producers, creators, organisations and representatives of the networks and platforms that the project intended to cover with its activities. It succeeded in strengthening the development of the topic of film education, linking actors in the video game and cinema industry on this topic, lobbying within the structures of the Ministry of Culture and within interest groups in the education sector.
