Description
Our association revives the unique monument of the Coal and Water Tower in Vratislavice n. N., for which the owner has no use. The tower is part of a former carpet factory. In addition to caring for the building, we also take care of local relationships. Now we want to build a Re-use center and teach residents about the principles of circular economics. We are also trying to transfer our know-how in craft courses and prevent the generation of waste and its incineration. Our project responds to the current situation of our city - especially to waste policy and save the environment (materials, energy and avoid of combustion. Our goal is also teach and educate citizens how they can repair their furniture by themself - we plan to organize workshops once per month. We plan to pick up old furniture from the citizens, who would not use it anymore. Than we want to repair it or make it modern and find a new owner, who would use it. Our project will be part of "furniture bank" and we will provide a servise of lending chairs and tables for city or private events. We will also offer our Work room to rent it and use common tool. We save money (of city and individuals), energy and material by the common using, by re-use and by education of citizans. The main goal of the project is to achieve a reduced amount of waste (specifically furniture and home furnishings) in large-volume containers provided by Vratislavice n.N., then Liberec and Jablonec n.N. n the community of citizens of Vratislavice, we want to achieve that they actively choose an alternative for the handling of unnecessary furniture - they donate it to the Workshop with a Re-use center, instead of liquidation.
Summary of project results
The Workroom and Re-use centrum of Zauhlovačka has a direct positive impact on the well-being of the community of Vratislavice nad Nisou. Specifically, in the town Vratislavice, our association replaces the municipal re-use center and offers citizens an alternative to dispose of the furniture in a different way than just the possibility of disposing of it and throwing it away. Thanks to our activity a citizen has two options: 1) donate furniture, have it repaired by our association and have a clear conscience, that he gave the furniture another life and the possibility of future use. Or 2) repair the furniture yourself on workshops, where it possible to use tools from our Workroom and with the help of our lecturers. Citizens get know-how for further repairs, for his or her independence. In this way, in the long term, we educate citizens who handle their property and belongings responsibly daily needs. Thanks to this, we reduce the amount of waste in municipal containers and the costs for transporting and disposing of furniture. In the long term, this saves energy, and less carbon dioxide is released into the air resulting from the combustion of this furniture. Because of this, citizens can learn new way of point of their view, how to thinks and recycle, use procedures for the disposal of other types of objects, materials, etc.
