Description

The project aims to create a gastronomy school in Saittas to train chefs of local restaurants, especially in the use of local products and recipes. More specifically, it aims to fund (i) the construction of a ‘Gastronomy Training Centre’ and (ii) landscape the surrounding area with indigenous crops, aromatic plants and plants of the local flora. In addition, implementation of the project will promote the agricultural and gastronomic culture of Troodos region and of Cyprus in general.

Main activities shall include:

  • building the ‘Gastronomy Training Centre’;
  • landscaping design and development of a park with indigenous plants;
  • training of professional staff/chefs of local restaurants.

Summary of project results

The aim of the project was to create a Gastronomic School  at Troodos area to train chefs of local restaurants, especially in the use of local products and recipes. More specifically, the project aimed at the construction of an educational centre of gastronomy and landscaping of the surrounding area with indigenous crops, aromatic plants and plants of the local flora. The implementation of the project aimed to promote the rural and gastronomic culture of the Troodos region and Cyprus in general.

Within the framework of the project the building of the educational gastronomy centre was partially constructed, which will be completed by 2025 with funds provided by the Republic of Cyprus.
