Description

The project targets the need of an effective integrated approach for improving the status and opportunities of victims of domestic and gender-based violence in the South-Central region, with a special focus on the vulnerable women and children from the Roma community.

The project plans to develop and pilot a service related to the domestic and gender-based violence, to establish a supporting center called "You are not alone" and to provide counseling information. The project aims to train and build capacity of support specialists from the South-Central region to prevent and combat domestic violence. The support service and the training will be based on studies and analyses in ten municipalities in the South-Central region.

The operation of the pilot center in the Municipality of Strelcha by providing advice, counseling and support to victims of violence in Roma communities, will not only help reduce the incidence of violence, but will also contribute to higher public awareness in general and increased attention by the Roma community itself.

The Norwegian partner Supras AS will share good practices from Norway in the protection of women and children who have experienced domestic violence and gender-based violence, with a focus on Roma society, applicable for Bulgaria. All good practices will be taken into account in the training programs and will be presented to the participants in the trainings, and the prepared manual will be publicly available to all stakeholders.
