Description
In pursuit of heightened competitiveness, Ficosota OODs project aims to introduce a groundbreaking product to the market: the mini-sized laundry capsule.
Recent innovations by Ficosota OOD have led to the development of a compact capsule, featuring a reduced quantity of detergents without compromising the final product''s quality. Adding to its appeal, an aroma kernel enhances the capsule''s attractiveness to consumers. Notably, the capsule''s design, safeguarded internationally, showcases a distinctive two-section flower shape with specialized formulations. The outer section maximizes washing performance, while the inner "fragrance booster core" encapsulates fragrance, ensuring an optimal scent on dry clothes.
This initiative encompasses key milestones:
- The installation and operation of a Production and Packaging Line dedicated to mini-sized laundry capsules.
- Certification of the useful model for the new green product.
- The creation of 10 new job opportunities.
In alignment with Ficosota''s overarching strategy for expansion and modernization, an additional project component has gained approval. This component focuses on bolstering the company''s competitiveness by implementing a new production and packaging line tailored for stand-up pouches (flexible pouch), specifically designed for Home and Personal Care liquid products.
This strategic move is pivotal in realizing the company''s vision, facilitating an increase in production capacity and broadening its reach to a more extensive consumer base. Furthermore, it aligns with sustainability objectives, advocating for reduced material, electricity, and water consumption during raw material processing, diminished fuel usage in transportation, and enhanced opportunities for recycling.
Summary of project results
Background Over the last decade laundry mono-doses (liquid capsules, laundry capsules) are the biggest innovation in the laundry detergents industry . This product format is growing rapidly all over the world, serving as the main value driver in the sector. While in some developed markets this product format is already the second biggest after liquid detergents, in Eastern Europe its share is usually between 5% and 20% of the laundry category. At the beginning of 2018 Ficosota OOD launched its Savex laundry capsules on the Bulgarian market and in the first 6 months following the start of sales the company managed to take 13% value share of the capsules segment on the Bulgarian market. However, the company could not meet the full market demand and due to insufficient capacity Ficosota OOD did not fulfil 24% of the orders.
The investment in equipment includes PVON capsule making module and a packaging module. The technical solution has solved the following needs:
1. The necessity for increasing the capacity in order to stay competitive
2. The necessity of automating the packaging process and introducing a safe child resistant zipper.
3. The necessity for producing smaller capsules thus achieving green effects on the end product
Overall, this is state-of-art machinery allowing the company to increase its productivity, shorten down production time and generating less waste.
In addition, the company has invested in a new production and packaging line tailored for stand-up pouches (flexible pouch), specifically designed for Home and Personal Care liquid products.
The introduction of new green products on the market have ensured the company’s sustainable development to a long-term economic growth, social cohesion and environmental protection. The competitive advantage of the company is due to:
Environmental impact of the new green production It concerns not only the production process where Ficoosta OOD constantly innovates to find better solutions using less raw material or generating less wastes or using less energy, but also the innovation in the end product which make it greener.
Economic impact: With this project Ficosota OOD have ensured more than doubled production capacity as well as the possibility to produce smaller capsules and flexible pouches, with less material for packaging, with innovative design and composition. The project results have contributed to the diversification of the products existing in the company, thus improving its economic viability; increasing the annual turnover and the annual net operational profit of the company
Social impact: Creation of 10 new jobs and contribution to a better economic environment of the region.
