The project aims to promote the integration of the Roma community in the municipality of Chiprovtsi (over 5500 people) and to work to overcome stereotypes through cultural activities - cooperation and exchanges, discovering and promoting talent from an early age, to stimulate interest and professionalism. cultural activity and to offer new opportunities for the Roma community. The project envisages various activities such as the creation and operation of a joint arts group at Petar Parchevich Primary School with a large common permanent art studio / arts center; Holding an annual art festival on April 8 with performances by Roma artists in various arts - music, fine arts, theater; Conducting a local study on the history and culture of the Roma in the region (Chiprovci); Vocational guidance and support for receiving vocational education or vocational training for children and young people with artistic talents; Art campaign to overcome stereotypes in schools. The project''s activities will be integrated with the cultural and educational calendar of the Municipality of Chiprovci.
Summary of project results
The project aimed to promote the integration of the Roma community in the municipality of Chiprovtsi and to overcome stereotypes through cultural activities - cooperation and exchanges, the discovery and promotion of talent from an early age, to stimulate interest and professionalization of cultural activity and to offer new opportunities to the Roma community.
The project inlcuded various activities such as the establishment and functioning of a mixed arts group in the "Petar Parcevic" Primary School with a large permanent common arts studio/arts centre, the holding of an annual art festival on 8th April with performances of Roma artists in various arts (music, visual arts, theatre forms), the conducting of a local study on the history and culture of Roma in the region of Chiprovtsi, an art campaign to overcome stereotypes in schools. The project has integrated those activities in the educational and cultural life of the municipality.
The project helped to promote the integration of the Roma community in the Chiprovtsi municipality, contributed to combatting stereotypes through cultural cooperation and exchanges, discovered and promoted new talents at local and regional level by establishing Roma as equal participants in cultural life.
Summary of bilateral results
The partnership between the Municipality of Chiprovtsi and the Sporid Dance Group (Iceland) started with a series of online meetings and intensive communication during the preparation of the project proposal. The regular communication continued after the start of the project and the Icelandic partners visited the Municipality of Chiprovtsi on 27.09.2023 to initiate the joint dance workshop. The joint work continued successfully throughout the project. Both parties expressed clear intentions for further joint activities and projects.
